Bringing students together through play was the idea Ms. Bobby Baker had for all Heritage Elementary students. Her grant request supports Heritage School’s mission to foster inclusion and meaningful participation for all students. Even those with disabilities. The grant made possible the purchase of musical play equipment, which offers a universally accessible way to engage the senses, build fine and gross motor skills, and encourage cooperation through music making.

“I was awarded a grant for musical playground equipment for Heritage. This is the fruit of many hours of labor. You can see in the pictures both groups of students enjoying the equipment together. Both showing patience and curiosity in the newest addition. I have already had a student approach me and sweetly ask for me to wish for something next year! We are so thankful for our amazing wish granters!” Bobby Baker, Heritage instructor

KEF would like to thank Ellen Wilfong with 4-1 Marketing Solutions who creates the scripts and produces our videos along with Jack Quirk with ALL ABOUT KINGFISHER who shoots the videos and does all the editing to make some amazing videos telling stories about our mission to support our Kingfisher Public School teachers and invest in their students to enhance learning inside and outside the classroom. They are the driving force behind our creative ad campaigns.

Our board wants to say thank you to both of them for taking time out of their busy schedules to help us make each year’s duck race a huge success. We appreciate each of you so much! Thank you!

Check out the first video they created for us with the partnership of our local Kingfisher pharmacies who did an awesome job on our page. Look for another video to drop early next week where we will highlight other local businesses who sponsored this year’s race on July 4th at 2 pm at the Vernie Snow Aquatic Center.

Every duck has its mission so please help us reach our goal of selling 800 ducks for this year’s race by going to kefduckrace.com and get your ducks today!

KEF wants to spotlight another teacher grant awarded this past December to our Kingfisher Public School teachers. Mrs. Jannason Long, who teaches 6th grade at Kingfisher Upper Elementary (KUE), wrote a grant requesting resources to teach her students about the Titanic in a new and creative way.

KEF funded the purchase of Titanic materials used to research and write an informational essay. The students used maps, posters, and other materials to create an immersive experience. They were assigned different passengers aboard the ship, learned about Morse code, a 3D tour of the ship via VR headsets that engaged her students in reading and writing about this event along with building a large replica of the Titanic with Legos for a more visual representation of the “unsinkable ship.” Students engaged in small-group and large-group discussions and wrote an essay to enhance literacy skills in an engaging way.

Mrs. Long shared that, “This year, the 6th grade ELA classroom purchased items for the Titanic, and it was a huge success with the students! They were able to view replicas of the newspaper articles and pictures of the Titanic cabins. Students also became Titanic passengers aboard the ship and saw up close a Lego Titanic. The interactive materials brought the unit to life and created excitement with my students. Thank you, KEF, for funding these fun learning materials to help me reach each of my students in a way I couldn’t have without them.”

This is another example made possible by community support and distributed through KEF Teacher Grants. When you buy ducks for our annual DUCK RACE, you’re helping fund creative and impactful opportunities for our teachers and students!

KEF wants to spotlight one of the many grants awarded this past December to our Kingfisher Public School teachers. Mrs. Kaytlyn Neal, a 3rd grade teacher at Heritage Elementary was awarded a grant called "Catching Kindness". This grant allowed Kara Mitchell, an author and fellow Oklahoma resident, to visit with Heritage students about becoming an author and illustrator. She recently wrote a book called Catching Kindness.

“Our students were so engaged and excited to not only hear from an author, but also an illustrator! Kara brought the kids their own sketchbooks and shared with them how she gets her ideas into the beautiful illustrations. Throughout the visit, the kids got to use their imagination and be creative! Thank you all so much for always showing so much to all of us teachers, students, and all of our schools!” Kaytlyn Neal

This is just one of many projects made possible by community support and distributed through KEF Teacher Grants. When you buy ducks for our annual DUCK RACE, you’re helping fund creative and impactful opportunities for our teachers and students!

KEF wants to congratulate Ms. Kuehn for being recognized as a top teacher by OERB. We want to celebrate this with you and say congrats and thank you for all you do for Kingfisher Public Schools!

From the classroom to courtside! 🏀✨

Our next Top Teacher honoree is creating unforgettable experiences for her students—like this recent trip to see the Oklahoma City Blue in action. Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door, and moments like these inspire connection, curiosity, and community.

Thanks to the people of Oklahoma oil and natural gas, we’re proud to celebrate educators who go above and beyond every single day. 👏📚

The Annual KEF Duck Race is underway, and you are invited to buy a duck and enter the race!

The Kingfisher Educational Foundation is devoted to supporting the students and teachers of Kingfisher Public Schools through the giving of teacher grants. KEF strives to enrich the educational experience of our students, and that is made possible through the purchase of ducks, as well as the giving of other donations from generous individuals and businesses within our community.

As the KEF Duck Race draws near, our diligent board members will be reaching out to the Kingfisher community, inviting you to purchase ducks for this year’s duck race. The annual Duck Race is the sole fundraiser each year for KEF.

Splendid prizes await the swiftest of ducks, with a cash bounty of $1,000, $500, and $300 for the top 3, respectively. We even give a $100 prize for the last-place duck!

Mark your calendars for July 4th at 2 PM for the Duck Race, which unfolds at the enchanting Kingfisher Vernie Snow Aquatic Center. You do not need to be present to claim your prize, but you are welcome to come cheer on your duck as they race.

Secure your duck or ducks for just $50 each to enter this purposeful race. Ducks can be purchased online at KEFDuckRace.com or simply offer a check to one of our amazing board members. Join the fun and make a difference! Have you bought your duck yet?
