🔁 They’re Coming Back… So Why Aren’t We Preparing Them?

Description:
Here’s the reality most people don’t talk about—

Almost everyone in prison is coming back out.

Not someday.
Not maybe.
Almost all of them.

So the real question isn’t:
“Should they be locked up?”

The real question is:
“What happens when they come home?”

Right now in Oklahoma…

We spend millions locking people up—
but very little preparing them to succeed when they get out.

No real focus on therapy.
Limited mental health support.
Not enough job training.
Not enough structured reentry programs.

So what happens?

People walk out the same way they walked in—
with the same trauma,
the same struggles,
and no real path forward.

And then we act surprised
when they end up right back in the system.

That’s not justice.
That’s a revolving door.

If we actually want safer communities—
if we actually want less crime—

Then we need to start investing in reentry, reform, and rehabilitation.

Because when people leave prison better than they entered…
crime goes down.

This isn’t soft.

This is smart.

It’s a we thing, not a me thing.
