Want to know more about our critters? Every so often I'll be featuring one of them.

They are a part of our family and just one of the many ways we support our kids' slow childhood. Whether it's collecting eggs, doing chores, crawling up on Smudge, or going for a little free range run with the Goat Bros, we're always up to some shenanigans!

A solar-powered wonder. We tried to think of everything:

Outdoor carpeting and vinyl flooring for muddy feet.
Changing area with total privacy, large enough for families.
Compostable toilet and hand washing station.
Nature Nook (which features all kinds of found artifacts including insect specimens, snake skins, indigenous tools, skulls, and more!)
Cozy reading areas.
Arts and crafts materials.
Learning Loft (aka The Birds' Nest!)

(We will return in the fall with more books!)

Our focus will be switching to summer programming and building Nature School quite literally from the ground up.

Join us for our last book club meet up June 7th at the Blairstown Public Library from 4:00-5:30.

Don't have your book yet? Stop by the library for your interlibrary loan. This one was a quick read! (At least from my perspective. I devoured it in two days!)

They're the cutest little shirts to let your little one stain immediately with Iowa black topsoil ✌️

Also introducing nature themed rental backpacks!

🔎Fossils - Rock hunting guide, real fossil specimens, magnifying glass, camp themed activity book, and rock hardness test kit

🐦Backyard Birds - Backyard bird field guide, informational book about birds for kids, binoculars, birdhouse building kit, Audubon Society plush songbirds (Goldfinch, Cardinal, Chickadee)

🐞 Insects - Bug catch and release kit, specimens, insect book, butterfly house building kit

Each backpack can be rented for $10. Take it with you to explore your local park or backyard. Each kit contains a project for you to keep. Return the rest of the backpack within one week of rental for another family to rent and enjoy!

Rentals will take place in person on Monday mornings at Little Sprouts! A convenient QR code will be available for rental requests.

Camps are where we started. I'm SO EXCITED to kick off Season 2 with old and new friends alike.

With summer on the horizon and LOTS of things going on between the launch of Little Sprouts, camps, and Nature School, Book Club will be on hiatus from July-October!

I hope you'll join us for our June meet up before we say "see you later". This one's for the grown ups. Children's Night will also return in the fall!

After about two full weeks of diligently looking for them morning and night with no evidence they were still there (footprints, trails, sightings, fur or feathers from their meals) they're BACK! 🦊 And YES I immediately threw gravel from braking so hard to observe them and snap this pic from my vehicle!

If you notice the dead grass in our ditch, we have been selected for Benton County Roadside Management's Adopt -A-Prairie program! This is step one. While we're not big on chemicals, we understand this is part of the process to give the native plants a chance to thrive.

We hope we're creating a safe place for even more living things to call our land home! 🦋

We've had some changes to the roster recently. We've officially got TWO morning only (part time) spots open! (Afternoon is FULL!)
