Throughout the month of June, Culver’s locations are participating in Quacks for a Cause. For just $2, you can purchase the adorable cow duck (pictured), and the proceeds will support our FFA chapter and help enhance opportunities and experiences for our members!

This fundraising opportunity runs through June 30, so be sure to stop by the Edgewood Culver’s in Cedar Rapids and grab your duck today.

Congratulations to our Benton Community FFA members who competed at State CDEs today in Ames!

🥛 Milk Quality & Products earned a 4th Place Gold rating! Team members included Payton Armstrong, Nova Selck, Jackson Schulte, and Evan Kolek. Individually, Payton placed 6th overall and Nova placed 8th overall.

🌱 Agronomy received a Silver rating with team members Kaebry Dixon, Brianna Gahring, Kenzi Gibney, and Chase Miller.

🛠️ Ag Mechanics also received a Silver rating. Team members were Kamden Louis, Grayson Rathje, Landon Urell, and Tucker Wagner.

We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and time these members put in to prepare for today’s contests. Great job representing Benton Community FFA!

Today our Natural Resources class visited a wetland just east of Atkins where Evan Brehm, Conservation Agronomist with the Iowa Soybean Association, shared how wetlands can improve water quality by reducing nitrogen levels. Students also learned about the use of cover crops and the many environmental benefits they provide.

During the visit, students tested the water for nitrates entering the wetland pool and compared it to the water leaving the wetland to see the impact firsthand.
