In order to build something you need to start with a firm foundation!
At Sophia Learning Center we like to say that what we do is foundational learning. We ensure that students have a firm foundation in Christ and a firm foundation in reading and math. This approach ensures that students have a good foundation to build on and are ready to learn and navigate the schools once they leave our program.
With a high focus on literacy and comprehension, over the past seven years we've been blessed to have 98% of students leave meeting and exceeding kindergarten standings, and 43% left above-level readers.

One of our favorite units to teach on is building structures. The students have a blast trying to make their own towers using toothpicks and marshmallows. The goal is to make sure their foundation is strong or it will collapse. Some of the towers do collapse, and that’s ok, because it teaches us to get back up and try again!
