Tumbleweed Animal Sanctuary is a 100% volunteer run 501c3 nonprofit located in Kennewick, Washington. We are here to help animals in need with a specific focus on farmed animals. We will provide lifelong care for our rescued residents, and an environment that enables the animals to thrive and live their best life.

Good morning ☀️ Juniper and Forrest are together again! They were separated for a few months while Forrest’s spring (and summer) hormones were high. Juniper (and Momma duck - aka Jennifer) deemed him acceptable to be around again so the two are back to roaming the yard together.

Our sanctuary may be green and lush, but we are in the middle of the desert. This weekend, smoke and ash from a massive fire (34,000 acres burned in less than 24 hrs) about 20-30 miles away had us packing the vehicles with animal food and water, and driving the neighborhood to assure ourselves another fire was not closer. We are so thankful to all of the fire fighters and the associated teams for doing all in their power this fire season 🙌. This particular fire has not gotten any closer to us but is now 39,000 acres.

⛑️Oliver Update🦠 We have been waiting patiently but apprehensively for Oliver’s test results so he can start feeling better. Today we learned Oliver has staph infection (34,000 cells in his sample!!!) in his joint. We are talking with the vet to see which antibiotic would be most promising as he has already been on 2 types. Hopefully he will start the new one tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed 🤞 the next antibiotic works.
