Do you know our Stepping Stones director, Beth Ann Downer? Beth Ann diligently cares for our special needs children with the dignity and love they deserve. We appreciate you, Beth Ann!

Meet Beth Ann Downer, one of Elim Fellowship's missionaries currently serving at In Step Children's Home in Kenya! 🌍️

Beth Ann is from Flint, Michigan and has served in Kenya for the past 15 years. Prior to going to Kenya, she served in children's homes in Mexico, Jamaica, and Kenya. She has wanted to be a missionary and care for babies since she was 5-years-old.

She is greatly blessed to be caring for children in the Stepping Stones center there. Three of the children are deaf and blind, six of them are in wheelchairs and one of them uses a walker. These kids are never going to move away on their own. God has given them to her until they one day go to live with Him. She is a Mama to them.

Beth Ann's favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"

Prayer requests:
- For her alien I.D. card that she applied for in May to be approved and in her hands.
- Strength and wisdom as she cares for the children, makes decisions for them, and manages their team of caregivers.
- An anointing, as she preaches 3 or 4 services on Sunday while their Kenyan pastor is sick. Healing for their pastor.
- Another missionary to come and work with her to care for the children and a missionary couple to come and work alongside their directors, Jeff and Carla.

Next year, 44 of our young people will be continuing their education through trade school or college. For each one, education is more than a classroom. It is a step toward independence, opportunity, and the future God has placed before them.

Happy ! Meet Vivian! 💛

Vivian came into our care after her family was forced to flee their home during tribal clashes in 2021. Tragically, her father was killed in the violence. As their mother coped with deep trauma and the family struggled to survive in an overcrowded home, Vivian and her younger brother Kigen eventually came to In Step to receive consistent care.

Vivian could hardly wait to begin school, and that enthusiasm has not faded! Now in Grade Six, she especially enjoys Science and Agriculture and hopes to become a nurse one day. Outside the classroom, she loves art and running.

She also continues to watch closely over Kigen, earning her the affectionate description of his little “Mama Hen.”

Vivian is available for full or co-sponsorship. Co-sponsorship begins at $21 for three days of care or $49 for one week of care each month.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ~ Matthew 11:28 NIV

Jesus does not ask us to hide our weariness or carry every burden on our own. He invites us to come to Him exactly as we are.

The rest He offers is more than a break from a busy schedule. It is the relief of knowing we are held, our worries are heard, and we do not have to depend on our own strength for everything ahead.

If you are entering this week already feeling tired or overwhelmed, may you make room to accept Jesus’ invitation: come, release what you have been carrying, and rest in His care.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that emotional well-being matters at every age. 💚

Every child in our care has experienced abandonment, abuse, or trauma. And while providing a safe, loving home is an important part of their journey, healing goes far beyond meeting their physical needs.

We know that emotional healing is just as important as physical health. Through trauma counseling, loving caregivers, and a supportive community, we help our children process difficult experiences, build confidence, and begin to understand their worth.

Healing takes time, patience, and a whole lot of love. We're grateful for everyone who helps us provide the care and support our children need to grow and thrive.

Honestly, sharing videos on a “professional” social media account can be quite complicated! Videos have to be the right size, orientation, and length, which can make sharing everyday moments from campus a little tricky. 😄

What we wish each of you could experience is just how much joy you hear here all day long. There is almost always someone laughing, singing, talking, or finding a reason to dance.

This video captures that so well. Our toddlers are outside in the sunshine, happily dancing and singing along to praise music without a care in the world.

It may not be a "professional reel", but it sounds exactly like life on our campus. Turn up the volume and enjoy! ☀️🎶

Happy ! Meet Steven Daniel! 💛

Steven’s estimated birthday is August 16, 2025. He was rescued shortly after birth and came into our care needing extra support. He was slow to thrive and later developed pneumonia, making his first months especially concerning.

Now just over a year old, Steven is healthy, walking, playful, and developing well! He loves snuggles and happily soaks up plenty of attention from his aunties. He also enjoys making eye contact, which makes it very easy to stop and give him just one more cuddle.

Steven is available for full or partial sponsorship. Partial sponsorship begins at $21 for three days of care or $49 for one week of care each month.
