Rehema for Kids

Rehema for Kids was launched in 2006 by two couples that God brought together. They discovered a shared heart and passion for the children of Kenya.

We rescue and educate orphaned, abused, and vulnerable children in Kenya - breaking the cycle of generational poverty so kids can reach their God-given potential. We envision a Kenya where the streets are no longer filled with abandoned children; where villages are filled with Christian disciples who live their lives with purpose and carry the light of Christ into the next generation. Jeff & Carla Picicci and Ron & Joyce Panzero chose to step out in faith and live out their shared motto of “No Regrets!”

Our first baby was found abandoned in a cornfield in Kenya on a cold, rainy day in July of 2006. Jeff and Carla named her Rehema Grace. Rehema means Mercy in Swahili. On that day, Rehema for Kids was born to support our In Step Foundation’s Children’s Home and Academy. In Step Foundation (ISF) is registered as a company under the Kenyan Companies Act. This registration allows the organization to officially operate as a licensed children’s home that provides care for the children. Today, more than 200 children at ISF are blessed to have "Baba Jeff" and "Mama Carla" at the helm! The Piciccis work closely with the Rehema for Kids leadership to help ensure the current and future needs of the children are met.

Happy ! ❤️ Today we’re excited to introduce you to Patrick Canon Ogweno!

Canon, as he prefers to be called, was born in May 2016 and was abandoned shortly after birth. Today, he is 10 years old and in Grade Three.

Though small in stature, Canon has an impressive ability to focus on whatever has his attention. Whether he’s coloring, watching a movie, or working on something at school, Mama Carla loves seeing how carefully and thoughtfully he approaches each task.

When he’s not in school, Canon enjoys playing with toys and can often be found happily playing near the aunties, enjoying their company and the comfort of having them close by. 💛

Canon is available for full or partial sponsorship. Through sponsorship, children receive loving care, education, nutritious meals, medical support, and opportunities to grow and thrive.

Some of God’s best gifts can be easy to overlook because they arrive as ordinary parts of our days. A shared meal, a good conversation, laughter with friends, or an unexpected moment of encouragement can all remind us of His goodness.

Unlike the circumstances around us, God’s character does not shift or change. He remains faithful through every season.

Today, may we pause long enough to notice the gifts already surrounding us and thank the One who provided them.

This may be a little outside our usual campus updates, but we know how much so many of you care about Baba Jeff and Mama Carla as people, too. 💛

The couple recently welcomed their two oldest granddaughters, Keegan and Ava, to Kenya! The girls graduated from high school this year, and this is their first time visiting their grandparents in Kenya.

For 17 years, Jeff and Carla lived in a room of approximately 230 square feet on campus. There simply wasn’t space to host visiting family. Thanks to private supporters, they now have a home on campus with just enough room to welcome family, making this special visit possible.

Congratulations on your graduations, Keegan and Ava! We hope you’re having a wonderful time making memories with Grandma and Grandpa in Kenya!

Thank you to everyone who has continued praying for Pastor Sam. 🙏

As we previously shared, Pastor Sam has been facing some serious health concerns and has been undergoing further medical evaluation.

For now, we are waiting for test results and more information about what comes next. We don’t have any additional answers to share yet, but we will continue to keep you updated as we learn more.

Please continue praying for Pastor Sam, for clear answers, wisdom for his doctors, and peace and strength during the waiting.

**20 years. 200 friends. Just seven days left to be part of it.**

In honor of the 20th anniversary of *Rehema for Kids*, we set a goal of having 200 friends make a gift by August 31. We are grateful for everyone who has already joined us, but we need many more friends to step forward before the deadline.

These gifts will help provide care and education at every stage of a child’s life, from diapers for our youngest babies to high school, vocational training, and college for our oldest students.

A gift of $100 can provide a week of diapers and essential infant care.
A gift of $600 can keep a student in high school for six months.
A gift of $1,500 can provide one year of vocational or trade school.

Every gift counts toward our goal, regardless of the amount.

Happy ! ❤️ Today we're thrilled to introduce you to Candy Kemunto!

We estimate Candy's birthday to be April 21, 2024, making her 2 years old.

Candy joined our family in August 2024 when she was around four months old after being rescued from heartbreaking circumstances. When she first arrived, she was a tiny, withdrawn baby. With consistent care, love, and a safe place to call home, we've had the privilege of watching her blossom.

Today, Candy is a joyful little girl who smiles easily and has learned to trust the people caring for her. It's been wonderful to watch her personality emerge as she continues to grow! 💛

Being still can be difficult when our minds are filled with unfinished tasks, unanswered questions, and plans for what comes next.

Yet God’s invitation to be still is not simply a request to slow down. It is a reminder to release our need to control every outcome and rest in the truth of who He is.

Today, may we quiet the noise long enough to remember that God is present, faithful, and at work, even when we cannot see what He is doing.
