Troop 422, along with guests from local Cub Scout Packs, placed flags at Mars Hill Cemetery, Acworth, GA to honor and remember those who served. We live free because of their sacrifices.

Many thanks to Silver Comet District Scouters who hosted the district Highland Games Camporee this past weekend! Troop 422 had a fantastic time hunting for Nessie, building cairns, tossing "cabers", playing tug-of-war, wanging wellies, and so much more! Some of our new AOLs got a great taste of Troop-level camping fun too. Troop note: links to all the troop photos will be available in the upcoming newsletter.

THERESA BERGER
Theresa has worn many scouting hats over the years, including rangemaster for Pack 217 and Silver Comet Training Chair, to name a few. She has been involved in scouting for many years, and most recently serves as the health and safety coordinator for troop 422. Theresa steps up to help with campouts and fundraiser ideas and serves as a troop Committee Member as well. We are so grateful for all she does!

RYAN KEMP
Ryan Kemp’s scouting journey began in 1992 when he joined Pack 200 at Mount Paran North Church of God in Marietta as a wolf scout. He earned his Arrow of Light. He then transitioned to Troop 200, where he became involved in the Order of the Arrow; served for many years as Troop Bugler; and Senior Patrol Leader. Ultimately achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

In 2015, Ryan re-entered scouting with Pack 217 in Kennesaw, serving as Tiger Den leader alongside his son, Reid. Since then, he has held various leadership positions within Pack 217, including den leader, pack committee chair, and currently serves as the pack’s cubmaster.

Ryan completed Wood Badge in 2017 as a member of the Beaver Patrol. He later served as a Troop Guide on course 14-92-25-1.

In addition to his leadership in Pack 217, Ryan is actively involved with Troop 422 at St. Catherine of Siena in Kennesaw, where he serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster, and Crew 422 as the Crew Associate Advisor. Ryan was an adult leader on crew 422’s high-adventure treks to Northern Tier in 2024 and Philmont in 2025. Currently, he is helping coordinate an advanced open water diving trek at Sea Base scheduled for June 2026.

Ryan is an indispensable member of the troop 422 leadership team!

SHEILA COVINGTON
Despite a busy family life with 2 boys and a full-time job in international logistics, when Sheila and her son joined Troop 422, she jumped right in to help! This year alone, she ran the entire popcorn sales fundraiser for our scouts and led adults on a memorable trip to Scouters Winter Camp (SWC). Sheila is also an advocate for camperships and is a great supporter of our troop's girls' patrol! We are truly blessed she's part of our team!
