Microchipping your pet is one of the most effective ways to help ensure they are returned to you if they ever get lost.

Cobb County residents can get a free microchip for their cats and dogs at a Microchip Clinic, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at East Cobb Park, 3322 Roswell Road, Marietta.

Microchipping is a simple way to help reunite you with your pet if they ever become lost. This event is for Cobb County residents only and for cats and dogs only. No registration is needed.

Thousands of items are up for grabs at the Cobb County Library System Fall Book Sale Oct. 16 - 18. Stock up on reading material for all ages, movies, audiobooks, and the holy grail: vinyl albums, comic books, and puzzles, which go fast. Prices range from 10 cents to $4.

The Friday frenzy is being tamed this year with a few new rules:
• Faster lines: All checkout lines are limited to 20 items.
• Fairness factor: On Friday morning, hot-ticket items are limited to one puzzle, one graphic novel, one manga, two comic books, and two LPs.
• Electronic scanning: Not permitted until 1 p.m. Friday.

More event info:
• Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17: Open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Sunday, Oct. 18: Open 1 - 5 p.m. Fill a box for a flat rate.
• Accepted payment: Cash, checks, and cards
• Entry is free, and there is plenty of free parking.

Plan ahead:
• Make a list and make a beeline to your faves.
• Bring a thing to carry your things: bag, luggage, cart, wagon, etc.
• Hydrate and snack before you come. Your iced latte will hold you back.

Walk together at Cobb Goes PINK!

Honor survivors, remember loved ones, and support neighbors affected by breast cancer at Cobb Goes PINK! on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 8 -10 a.m. at Jim R. Miller Park.

The morning begins with a warm-up led by Burn Boot Camp, followed by an untimed 5K walk on the Midway track at Jim R. Miller Park and Event Center in Marietta. Survivors, people in treatment, families, friends, caregivers, and supporters are all welcome.

Registration is $10 per person and includes an event T-shirt. Payment is required when registering.

Building a small business can feel like you have to figure out everything yourself.

We had the opportunity to learn more from Karen Burnsed about the incredible work they do to support children and families through therapy, and how our community can help support their mission.

I always love when our CBWA luncheons give us the chance not only to connect with amazing women in business, but also to learn about local organizations that are making such a meaningful difference in our community.
