🎉🐾 MAZEL TOV, NANCY DREW! 🐾🎉

This sweet girl recently celebrated her 1st birthday in the best way possible—with her very own BARK Mitzvah! 🥳

Nancy's amazing foster mom gathered friends, their dogs, and plenty of birthday fun for a celebration that was a hit with both the canine and human guests. There were dog-friendly cupcakes, a special birthday bandana, a party hat fit for the guest of honor, and lots of tail wags all around.

We absolutely love when foster families go above and beyond to make rescue dogs feel special. ❤️

What makes it even sweeter is knowing that just one year ago, Nancy's future was uncertain. Today, she is surrounded by love, friendship, and people who wanted to celebrate HER.

And honestly? If you've met Nancy, you know why.

Meet Blossom Breeze, the puppy who refuses to let anything slow her down!

At just 3 months old, this beautiful Lab mix has already overcome more than most dogs ever will. After surviving a car accident and losing one of her front legs, Blossom bounced right back and got busy doing what puppies do best—playing, exploring, cuddling, and stealing hearts. 🩵

The funny thing? Blossom doesn't seem to know she's missing a leg. She keeps up with her dog friends, loves her toys, and is always ready for the next adventure.

🩵🐾 THIS is why we never stop asking. 🐾🩵

A few days ago, we shared Rookie 28's story.

The little brindle puppy firefighters found inside an abandoned office building during a fire call. A building filled with evidence of squatters, drug use, and dangerous conditions.

When firefighters searched the second floor, they found Rookie trapped behind a glass door in a maze of empty office spaces.

According to the firefighter who rescued him, Rookie didn't hesitate. He ran straight to them and laid down at their feet as if to say:

"Please get me out of here."

And they did. 🚒❤️

After spending time at the fire station and then with the firefighter who saved him, Rookie needed a foster home where he could continue growing, learning, and being a puppy.

That's when Melissa and Chris saw our post.

Even though they already have two dogs of their own, they opened their hearts and their home to Rookie.

Now look at him.

Playing with his foster siblings.
Making new friends.
Getting love from kids.
Learning what it means to be safe.
Learning what it means to belong.

This is what fostering does.

It takes a puppy whose story could have ended very differently and gives him a future.

Thank you, Melissa and Chris, for saying YES when Rookie needed someone most. Thank you for being the bridge between his rescue and his forever family.

And thank you to the firefighter who refused to leave him behind.

Because of all of you, Rookie 28's story is no longer about where he was found.

🩵 A Note From Belles Buds Rescue 🩵

One of the things we love most about rescue is bringing people together to help animals in need. Every day, our volunteers donate their time, energy, and hearts to help dogs and cats find safe, loving homes.

What many people don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes. Our volunteers spend hours:

• Answering messages and emails from people needing help

• Reviewing foster and adoption applications

• Conducting reference and veterinary checks

• Creating social media posts and adoption profiles

• Updating our website and available pet listings

• Networking dogs and cats to potential adopters

• Reaching out to breed-specific contacts and rescue partners

• Coordinating meet-and-greets and adoption events

• Arranging transports and foster placements

• Scheduling veterinary appointments

• Following up with adopters and fosters

• Managing fundraising efforts to support medical care

• Providing guidance and support to finders and community members

Every hour spent helping one animal is an hour that could have been spent helping another animal waiting for rescue.

Recently, we experienced a situation that reminded us how important clear communication and commitment are when a rescue agrees to help network a privately-owned or finder-held pet. Our volunteers invested significant time and resources connecting a dog with potential adopters, only for the process to end unexpectedly at the last minute.

While disappointing, we believe every challenge is an opportunity to learn and improve.

To better protect the time of our volunteers, the trust of our adopters and fosters, and the animals depending on us, Belles Buds Rescue will be implementing a Finder/Foster Agreement for dogs and cats that are being networked through our rescue. This agreement will help ensure everyone involved understands expectations and is committed to working together toward the same goal: finding safe, appropriate homes for animals in need.

Belles Buds Rescue is 100% volunteer-run. No one receives a paycheck. Every application reviewed, every post created, every transport coordinated, and every late-night message answered is done by someone who simply cares enough to help.

Thank you to our volunteers, fosters, adopters, donors, and supporters who make this work possible. Because of you, lives are changed every single day. 🩵

Together, we can ensure our time, energy, and resources are used where they matter most—helping as many animals as possible find the loving homes they deserve.

🏆😁 AND THE WINNER OF OUR BEST RESCUE SMILE CONTEST IS... WHITMAN! 😁🏆

Just look at that grin! We had so many amazing smiles to choose from, but Whitman's happy face captured everyone's hearts. 🩵

Now that he's officially our Smile Contest Champion, we thought we'd share a few fun facts about the dog behind that award-winning smile:

But Whitman's story is about so much more than his smile.

When he first came to rescue, he had been abandoned and was heartbreakingly thin. His bones and ribs were visible, and it's hard to imagine anyone looking at him and walking away.

Today, thanks to good food, love, and a dedicated foster family, Whitman has transformed into the happy, healthy, tail-wagging boy you see here. And through it all, he never lost that sweet spirit.

Now there's just one thing missing...

The kind of family that will adore him as much as he adores them. The kind of family that appreciates having a best friend who wants to be by their side through every walk, every movie night, and every ordinary day.

🩵 Accepting Adoption Applications: Wren 🩵

Her babies are growing up and finding their families… now it’s Mama Wren’s turn.

Wren was found abandoned in Waller County with her puppies, Briggs, Sutter, and Marlow, before they were brought to safety by Waller County Animal Control. Since then, she has watched her little family thrive. Briggs and Marlow have already found their forever homes, and Sutter has an application pending.

Now we’re hoping someone will choose the sweet mama who started it all.

At only about 15 pounds, Wren is the perfect compact companion. She may be a mom, but don’t let that fool you—this little black-and-tan beauty is full of youthful, playful energy! She loves romping around with the dogs in her foster home, including dogs much bigger than she is.

According to her foster family, Wren is a “cuddler, fireball, and sweetheart.”

When she’s not playing, she’s happy to curl up beside you for a nap. And when her people come home? Get ready for the cutest welcome committee around! Wren gets so excited she runs over to greet them with happy little nibbles and wiggles.

💕 Waiting Wednesday 🐾

Skor is waiting…

A few weeks ago, Skor was on the Waller County euthanasia list with time running out.

Today, he’s safe because rescue said yes.

But what Skor really needs now is someone willing to say yes to fostering or adopting him. 🩵

This handsome chocolate Lab is everything people love about the breed—friendly, loyal, and always happy to meet new people. At 55 pounds, he’s the perfect size for adventures, walks, and lounging by your side after a busy day.

Skor is great with people and does well with children who are comfortable around larger dogs. He’s approximately 3–5 years old, past the puppy chaos but still full of life and ready for fun.

The only thing he’s asking for? A cat-free home.

Every day, Skor watches other dogs leave for foster homes and forever families. Every day, he waits patiently, hoping his turn is next.
