April 7th was a truly special day, as we teamed up with one of our amazing partners, , to present Josephine with her new eye-gaze communication device. ❤️✨
This new technology is going to unlock a whole new level of creativity and independence for Josephine.
Josephine, an eight-year-old with Rett Syndrome, has lost the ability to speak and use her hands. However, she communicates brilliantly using her “talker”, an eye-gaze device that allows her to select words and icons with her eyes. Until recently, this device was limited to communication, leaving many everyday experiences, like using apps, learning on an iPad, or playing games out of reach. She often had to watch from the sidelines as her peers engaged in these activities.
The EyeTuitive combines an eye-gaze camera with an iPad, allowing Josephine to interact with the screen using only her eyes. This breakthrough means she can now access educational apps at school, helping her keep pace academically with her classmates. At home and in therapy, it opens up a world of fun, exploration, and age-appropriate activities. 🙌🙌🙌
Josephine’s world is expanding beyond communication into learning, play, creativity, and connection. In her own words, when she learned her request had been granted, she smiled and said: “That is great. Phenomenal!”
Enjoy a video of her making music with her new technology for the first time and pictures from her gift presentation. 🎩💫
