MARC Air Quality Program

MARC Air Quality Program We collaborate with others to make the air you breathe healthier.

The Mid-America Regional Council Air Quality Program works with the Greater Kansas City community to heighten awareness of air quality issues and encourage actions that reduce regional air pollution. The program's activities include the SkyCast, the daily ozone season air quality forecast for the Kansas City region; a free Workplace Partnership that encourages employees of more than 150 area organ

izations to learn more about and take actions to reduce air pollution; and an annual public education campaign.

The MARC Air Quality Program has issued an orange Ozone Action Alert for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Continued extreme heat, little to no cloud cover, dirty air coming into the Kansas City region, and our own locally produced pollution are all ingredients for high ozone levels that will continue into Wednesday.

We're seeking air quality sensor hosts throughout the Kansas City region, particularly outside Jackson County, to help expand MARC's air quality monitoring network.

The sensors track fine particulate matter, and this project will help MARC understand why these levels have steadily increased in certain areas over the past few years. All you need is Wi-Fi and an outdoor outlet. Sign up to be an air quality sensor host!

The expanded sensor network will help identify pollution patterns and support regional planning.

Stay informed about air quality by receiving the daily SkyCast.

The MARC Air Quality SkyCast is issued daily at 4 p.m. Like a weather forecast, SkyCast provides the air quality conditions expected for the next day and includes an Ozone Action Alert when an unhealthy amount of ground-level ozone pollution is anticipated.
