Kansas City Shock

Kansas City Shock What would Kansas City be without sports? Can you imagine no more Chiefs tailgating BBQs; no Royals blue seas; no Sporting titles; no more Big XII tournaments?

Kansas City Shock Athletics Association is 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization for Sports-Based Youth Development, dedicated to shaping well-rounded young adults through sports! Each year 36 Million American children participate in athletics (Statistic Brain), annually. By the year 2020 nearly one-third of all public US high schools will be without sports programs, and already 65% of those are pay t

o play (U. of MI). “An estimated $1.5 billion dollars were cut from school sports budgets nationwide during the 2010-2011 school year. During the 2009-2010 school year, $2 billion dollars were cut,” according to Alex Magdaleno (Mashable). Kansas City Shock Athletics Association is a veteran founded volunteer run, educational nonprofit youth sports organization that serves Greater Kansas City. KC Shock was founded in 2016 & started with softball; Shock is soon looking to expand into other sports! Our organization is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of athletics and life through respect, positivity, education, leadership, perseverance, and responsibility. KC Shock Athletics is not your typical sports organization. We focus on the whole person rather than just athletic abilities. Here at KC Shock, we are student-athletes, with student put first, because we ALWAYS put education first. Did you know that student-athletes have an 11% higher graduation rate, are 50% less absent (Up2Us Sports), and are 4X more likely to get college degrees (U.S Dept. of Ed.). We provide athletic grants for teams and athletes who would not normally be able to afford the costs associated with competitive sports. Every year, our teams will pick projects that help out Kansas City. Some past acts include adopting a family for Christmas, serving food in a soup kitchen, and simply just cleaning up trash. From volunteer work, we learn that it is important to help someone else. Volunteering makes you feel good, it also looks great on college applications and job resumes. Kansas City Shock Athletics Association is always looking for ways to expand our organization, provide opportunities for the kids to get to college and help make Kansas City a better place to be. KC Shock would love to be able to provide our student-athletes with a few more things to our dedicated and hardworking athletes. Because KC Shock Board of Directors knows how expensive college can be, even with federal grants, we are working on providing our first KC Shock scholarships to incoming college freshmen! For those who don't know us, we've been coaching together for more than 10 years and have helped players develop into successful high school and college athletes. Our teams have competed at the highest levels, including a 5th-place finish at PGF Nationals. Coach Jas currently coaches JV at Blue Valley Northwest and was named an All-Conference Head Coach in her first season leading a high school program (at her previous school).

Our former players have gone on to compete at every level, including programs such as Coppin State, South Carolina State, the United States Air Force Academy, and schools throughout the Jayhawk Conference.

What matters most to us isn't trophies—it's development.

We believe in building fundamentally sound players, mentally tough competitors, and teammates who play for each other. Ask any player who has worn a Shock jersey, and they'll tell you the same thing: we compete hard, we grow together, and we have fun doing it.

We're looking for motivated players on the Kansas side who want to improve their skills, play against strong competition, and be part of a positive team culture.

Proud of our former player, Lainie Krebs!
