SPARK UPDATE!!
The transition from “Backpacks” to “Full Bellies.”

Growing up, the start of a school year was a celebration. I was blessed with everything I needed—the fresh notebooks, the sharp pencils, the excitement. But as a teacher, I saw a different reality. I saw the students who walked in with nothing, quietly whispering that their supplies were coming “next time,” knowing that “next time” might never arrive.

For years the mission of Spark has always been to bridge the gap between what a student has and what they need to succeed. For years, that meant providing school supplies for teachers. However, as the economic landscape shifts, we’ve observed a more pressing barrier to education: Food insecurity. We know that a child cannot focus on a math problem if their stomach is cramping from hunger. You can’t learn on an empty tank. That’s why God is calling Spark to evolve. While we aren’t 100% sure what the exact roadmap looks like yet, our heart is clear: We are shifting our focus to meet the most basic needs of our students. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we have the calling. Stay tuned as we reinvent how we “Spark” hope in our local classrooms.

Every free throw tells a bigger story.

Last year, through our MANonFIRE Free-Throw-A-Thon, a portion of the funds helped provide soccer goals for a community in Mwanza, Tanzania, creating space for connection, play, and discipleship through Africa Enflame. Recently, we were also able to send support to Faraja Orphanage, helping provide the food needed to care for every child living there.

This year our vision continues to grow. Our hope is to visit the orphanage, bring donations, and help support several children with their schooling.

When you give through the Free-Throw-A-Thon, you’re doing more than supporting an event—you’re helping resource and care for kids in Africa. As you can see, they are incredibly grateful. 🌍🏀❤️

Authentic freedom isn’t just doing whatever we want—it’s discovering who God created us to be and living that out with purpose.

Purpose means using your God-given gifts to serve others. When we surround ourselves with the right people, they don’t just celebrate us—they challenge us to grow, to lead, and to step into the calling God has placed on our lives.

Choose people who push you toward purpose, not popularity. The crowd may chase attention, but the right circle will help you live out your assignment.

At MANonFIRE, we believe real freedom is found when young people discover their gifts and use them to impact the world around them.

Here is a story of a young man named Logan MacPherson, who was able to connect with a young man through the game of soccer. Stories like this remind us that sometimes a simple game can become a doorway to something much bigger. Through Africa Enflame, soccer becomes a bridge for connection, joy, and the love of Christ.

“I had the special opportunity to play soccer with a kid named Daniel. Seeing the joy on Daniel, and these other kids faces while we were playing soccer on a bumpy field with cow p**p everywhere and using their shoes as goal posts was beautiful to see. It was a reminder that the Lord can turn broken situations, like these kids life stories, and turn them to good. Genesis 50:20 says ‘You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.’ It is cool to see the way God is using the stories of these kids lives to now further his kingdom.” .mac23
