We have been asked if we are still here are what we are doing!
🐾 MUTTS GALORE IS NOT QUITTING RESCUE. WE JUST NEED TO CATCH OUR BREATH. 🐾🤍
First and foremost, WE ARE NOT QUITTING RESCUE. We are simply taking a step back and pausing intake for a little while so we can catch our breath, get caught up financially, and find loving forever homes for some of the incredible dogs already in our care.
Rescue has always been about helping the animals who need us most. The abused, the neglected, the forgotten, and the ones who have nowhere else to turn. We will always have a soft spot for those who are dumped in Johnson County and need someone to care enough to help them.
But the reality is that rescue comes with an enormous financial, physical, and emotional cost.
💔 OUR CURRENT VET BILL IS $1,200.
To some of the larger rescues, that might not seem like much. But when you're small and you're trying to feed, vet, and keep close to 100 dogs healthy, $1,200 is a tremendous amount of money.
Until we can get this paid off, we simply cannot responsibly take in additional animals. As heartbreaking as that is, we have to be honest about where we stand.
Donations have slowed. Adoptions have slowed. Foster homes are incredibly difficult to find. And like so many rescues and shelters right now, we are struggling.
And despite all the heartbreak, there have been some absolutely wonderful adoptions. Happy endings that remind us why we do what we do. Those are the moments that keep our hearts invested, even when our bodies and minds are telling us we need a break. 🤍
SO, HERE WE ARE, ASKING FOR HELP.
We desperately need:
🐾 FINANCIAL SUPPORT to help pay off our $1,200 veterinary bill and purchase the supplies our dogs need.
🍽️ DOG FOOD, both adult and puppy food. Feeding close to 100 dogs is an ongoing expense we cannot put on hold.
💊 FLEA AND TICK PREVENTION AND HEARTWORM PREVENTION to keep our babies healthy and protected.
🏡 FOSTERS who can provide safe, loving homes for dogs while they wait for their forever families.
❤️ ADOPTERS who are ready to open their hearts and homes to the amazing dogs already in our care.
The animal crisis we are facing is bigger than any one rescue, shelter, or individual. Rescues are full. Shelters are full. Foster homes are scarce. Donations are down.
The animals haven't stopped needing help just because the people trying to save them are exhausted and broke.
They still need someone to care. They still need food, medical attention, safe places to sleep, and families who will love them for the rest of their lives.
We want to get back to doing what we love most: helping the animals who desperately need us. But right now, we cannot do it alone.
No amount if ever too small.

We are exhausted. We are overwhelmed. At times, we have felt defeated. We needed time away to take care of ourselves so that hopefully, we can come back stronger and continue doing what we love.
