The Cambria Memory Project is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities

Families Forever: The Cambria Memory Project is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The purpose of the project is to ensure that the history of the people of Cambria County is captured and shared. These stories will contribute to the larger discussions of immigration and how it impacted the history of the region and the United States. Residents will be able to bring pieces of family history to one of several open digitization events. At these events, all materials will be digitized to be included in a statewide database and ultimately, the Digital Public Library of America.

Join us on Thursday, September 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College for a special screening of the movie, "Cresson: Remembering Life at the San." In addition to this Emmy-award winning documentary, discussion will follow led by WQED David Solomon and the new owners of the Sanatorium. Come and learn about how the history of the facility will be preserved.

Join us tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College for the presentation: Pennsylvania Women and Their Fight for the Vote. A 19-minute documentary, Finding Justice: The Untold Story of Women’s Fight for the Vote, followed by a Q&A with Amanda Owen, the filmmaker and executive director of the Justice Bell Foundation. Signed copies of Owen’s new book, The Justice Bell: Tracing the Journey of a Forgotten Symbol, will be available for purchase.

This event is sponsored by the Johnstown Branch of the American Association of University Women. It will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 at Penn Highlands Community College-Richland Campus.
