Pennsylvania’s aviation career pathways are growing.

Moravian University has welcomed 23 students into its new aviation programs, including 14 Professional Pilot majors completing flight training through flyGATEWAY Aviation Institute.

With training based primarily at Queen City Airport in Allentown, the program connects a university education with hands-on flight experience right here in the Commonwealth.

At Aerium, we’re excited to see more opportunities connecting students, education, and aviation careers. Building tomorrow’s workforce starts with giving students clear pathways to pursue today.

Tomorrow’s experienced aviation professionals are today’s students.

The U.S. Air Force’s pilot shortage could take 15–20 years to fully address, according to AVweb. Much of the gap involves positions requiring experienced pilots—a reminder that developing aviation talent takes sustained investment over time.

For us at Aerium, this reinforces the importance of connecting students, educators, and industry. Early exposure, hands-on learning, and clear career pathways help students see a future in aviation and take the first steps toward it.

The students we inspire today could become the pilots, technicians, and aerospace leaders we depend on for decades to come. Let’s give them a place to start.

The Air Force expects to train 1,500 pilots this year, but pilot shortages in experienced positions will take considerably longer to address.

Aviation safety begins with preparation, airspace awareness, and clear communication.

On September 19, a NORAD F-16 intercepted a civilian aircraft near Camp David after it entered temporarily restricted airspace. The aircraft was safely escorted out of the area, according to reporting from The Evening Sun.

It’s a reminder that aviation depends on preparation, communication, and airspace awareness, alongside the skill of the people in the cockpit and on the ground.
