The Ashville Volunteer Fire Company has awarded two $1,000 scholarships through the Evelyn and Eugene Eyer Ashville Scholarship Fund. 🎓 The first two recipients of the scholarship are Maddison Lee and Zachery Novak. The Evelyn and Eugene Eyer Ashville Scholarship Fund was established at the Community Foundation to support members of the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company and their family members. The fund will provide a scholarship to students who are pursuing any type of post-secondary education and are a member of the fire company or a child, grandchild, niece, or nephew of a member of the fire company. The scholarship was established by CFA board member Robert Eyer in memory of his parents, Evelyn and Eugene Eyer. Congratulations Maddison and Zachery! 🎉

Congratulations to West Hills Regional Fire Department on the purchase of their new turnout gear dryer! We were happy to support this purchase from a grant from our Fall 2025 grant round. Thank you for the work that you do to keep the community safe!

West Hills Regional Fire Department would like to sincerely thank the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and the Friends of Old Westmont for their generous financial support toward the purchase of our new turnout gear dryer.

Properly laundering and drying turnout gear is an important part of firefighter health and safety. It helps remove soot, smoke residue, and other cancer-causing contaminants that can remain on protective clothing after an incident. The new dryer allows our gear to be returned to service more quickly while helping protect the materials from damage caused by improper drying methods.

We greatly appreciate both organizations for investing in the health and safety of our firefighters. Their support makes a meaningful difference to our department and the communities we serve.

Stronger Together 💙

What a special evening celebrating 36 years of CFA and the incredible people who make our community stronger! This Founders' Day was a reminder that when we come together with our different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and passions, we can unite around a common goal—supporting the community we all love. For 36 years, our Foundation has been built on the belief that we are stronger together. Together, we create opportunities, invest in our community, and make a lasting difference for generations to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible, including our sponsors, the staff at the Grand Ballroom at Windber Rec, Flair of Country Catering, and Lambcakes Bakery, Bo Moore's Music, our keynote speaker Dr. Joseph Croskey, and all of our guests who attended.
