๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ“Scholarship Spotlight!๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŒŸBrooke Slade is the 2026 recipient of the Indiana Co. Fire Chiefs Association Student Scholarship Award. Brooke will attend IUP to receive her degree in environmental engineering. Once she obtains this degree, she hopes to work temporarily at her local conservation district in order to network, then eventually work for the government or a company as an environmental engineer. Brooke says that receiving this scholarship will help her achieve her goals with nothing stopping her from thinking and achieving big. Congratulations, Brooke! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸŒŸ We have some exciting new staff updates! ๐ŸŒŸ

Lladel Lichty, who has served as CFAโ€™s Director of Somerset County Endowments since 2020, will now serve as the Director of Bedford County and Somerset County Endowments. Lladel will continue to work with donors in both counties to open new funds that serve each community through grantmaking.

Additionally, we are excited to welcome two new staff members to our Johnstown officeโ€”Grants Administrator Samuel Barber and Nonprofit Partners Accounting Assistant Jessica Popish.

Samuel will work in our grants department, providing administrative support to process, track, and manage grant payments and applications. Jessica will work in accounts payable for our subsidiary organization Nonprofit Partners. Please give them all a warm welcome!

Dina has served as the Director of Bedford County Endowments since 2019, playing a pivotal role in growing the Foundationโ€™s presence in Bedford County. She has been a dedicated champion of our mission, helping strengthen the Bedford County community through her leadership, passion, and commitment. Thank you, Dina, for all you have done for CFA and for our community. You will be greatly missed, and we are wishing you the best in this exciting new chapter! ๐Ÿ’š

Today's scholarship spotlight is Addison Wood! ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŒŸAddison is the recipient of the Everett Area Alumni Association Warrior Scholarship. She will attend Gannon University to pursue her doctorate degree in occupational therapy, while also continuing her softball career. Addison says that this scholarship will help her achieve her goals by allowing her to focus on her education without worrying about student debt. Congratulations, Addison! ๐ŸŽ‰

Summer is here, and so is scholarship award season! ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŒŸ We are thrilled to be spotlighting some of our scholarship recipients again this year! Mya Lohr is the 2026 recipient of the Bedford Fall Foliage Festival Scholarship and the Rick and Trudy Barefoot Scholarship. Mya will be attending Mount Aloysius College as a pre-physical therapy major. She will graduate with her bachelor's degree in biology, then will obtain her doctorate degree in physical therapy from Saint Francis University. After receiving her doctorate, she plans to return to her community to work at an outpatient clinic as a physical therapist. Congratulations, Mya! ๐ŸŽ‰

Happy Memorial Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Will and Penn Hoffman, sons of Allison and Bill Hoffman raised the new flag at Ankeny Square Cemetery this morning, continuing a family tradition and becoming the 7th generation of Cooks to honor Somerset County history! Allison Cook Hoffman serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation, and our Somerset Advisory Committee. Great job, Will and Penn!
