Lucy’s Story — Full Circle Kind of Love 🐾❤️
Lucy first came to us after being found in the woods by a hunter, injured and in need of help. She was immediately taken to the vet and treated for a possible bullet wound. While getting her the care she deserved, we received the most unexpected surprise… Lucy was pregnant.
In our care, she gave birth and stepped right into motherhood like it was what she was meant to do all along. She was a true mama bear—gentle, protective, and so devoted to her babies.
As her puppies grew and went off to loving homes of their own, Lucy stayed behind. And while we knew she was one of the sweetest souls, we could also see it in her eyes—she missed them. She spent days curled up in her kennel with the saddest little expression, quietly waiting for her turn.
That’s when one of our dedicated volunteers, Christian, started spending time with her. Walks, calm breaks outside, quiet moments together… and slowly, something special began to grow between them. Anyone who saw them sitting together on that small patch of grass outside the shelter knew it—this bond was different.
We wished so many times that Lucy could just go home with him.
Lucy went home but not with Christian. She went home with someone who loved her and showed her what it was like to live again. However, Lucy was later returned due to circumstances that made it unsafe for her to remain there. It was hard—but in a way, it brought her back to where she started with us… and back to Christian.
And just like that, the bond we all watched grow continued right where it left off.
A few weeks later, Christian came to the shelter with the words we had all quietly hoped for:
“I’m taking Lucy home.” ❤️
Not just for Lucy—but for all of us—this was one of those full-circle moments you never forget.
Now, Lucy is exactly where she was always meant to be.
And the rest… is history. 🐾✨
