Summer vacation will be here before we know it. ☀️🏝️ We’re in need of monetary donations to get us through the rest of the school year.

The Windber Pantry Packs Program provides over 100 food-filled backpacks to students at Windber Area School District every week. With a few weeks left, we could use some additional assistance. 💙🤍

Did you know that Windber Pantry Packs provides over 100 food-filled backpacks to students at Windber Elementary every single WEEK??💙🤍

We are in need of donations. Shelf stable, individually packaged, small items. Here are some ideas:

•Beef sticks
•Cracker packs
•Small soups
•Mac and cheese
•Oatmeal
•Small cereals
•Juices

WOW! We packed about 115 backpacks to help hungry studens over Christmas break. 🎄💚 Thanks to Adele and Micah Madera, Cindy Debelles, and Joan Albright!

The Windber Pantry Packs is a separate organization from the Windber Food Pantry, but we are posting this information to get the word out on their behalf. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The pantry is open on the FIRST and THIRD Tuesday of every month ~ from 8:30 to 11:30 AM ~ at their location:

If you would like to DONATE food items, you can do so during those open pantry hours. Donations can also be mailed to that address. We appreciate your generosity during this uncertain time.

Dear Backpack Contributor,

We want to thank you for any support that you've been able to contribute to us, keeping the Windber Pantry Packs active and able to provide food for our school children. 100% of all donations have been for providing food for our community children. We are thankful that we have been able to amply sustain this organization and with your help, we will continue.

This year has dealt us a dilemma, however, that was far beyond our budget. There are over ONE THIRD more children signed up for the 2025-2026 school year and on top of that, our Federal and Commonwealth budget shut downs have left us with even more children at risk. Right now, we are in an unexpected increase for an undetermined amount of time. Please consider helping us to give our school children some relief for their weekend meals.

We are up to feeding over 100 kids. It is unimaginable that Windber has children that go hungry on the weekends. Without your help, we cannot fully fund this organization. YOUR HELP MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Thank you for your kind donation.

Thank you Windber Area School District ! 💙

The Windber Area High School National Honor Society is leading a Food & Blanket Drive to support local families in need this season! We’re asking families to donate non-perishable food items and new blankets to help spread warmth and kindness throughout our community. Donations can be dropped off at the main office of the High School or Elementary School.

We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Violette Eash who passed away last month. 💔 Violette was a big supporter of food needs in Windber, especially through the Windber Area Community Kitchen and the Windber Pantry Packs. Her generosity equaled her kindness. We were so lucky to have her support in feeding the Windber community for so many years.

This year, we lost 2 very important members of the Windber Food Pantry. 💔

🔹George Penrod volunteered with the Windber Food Pantry for 30 years. He always made sure the pantry was stocked up, even using his own money when he needed to. George attended every meeting and did everything he could do to make the pantry flourish.

🔹Bob Lehman was the past president of the Windber Food Pantry. His love and dedication to the organization over the years has helped hundreds of community members across our area who were in need of life sustaining food. We are very grateful for his service.

Last week, a truckload of leftover food from the “Rambler Rally for Relief” was donated to the Windber Food Pantry! Thank you to Windber Area School District for your help in serving our community! 💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍
