LEADERSHIP UPDATE: The IUOE Local 57 Executive Board has unanimously elected Ryan J. White as the union’s new Business Manager and President effective October 1, 2026. He addressed the membership at the regular monthly union meeting:

“As a fifth-generation member, Local 57 runs in my blood. We will continue fighting for our members and growing our local union. We will continue protecting our jurisdiction, investing in our apprenticeship and training program, and ensure that our retirement benefits remain safe and continue to improve. We will continue building on the foundation that Jim and his predecessors helped create, while protecting what generations before us fought so hard to achieve. I am proud to serve as your Business Manager, and I look forward to getting to work.”

The International Union of Operating Engineers pauses today to reflect on the events that occurred 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. We honor the men and women who lost their lives that tragic day, including several of our members. And we remember and honor the brave men and women who devoted their skills to the cleanup efforts and who have since passed away or are dealing with the ill effects of this dangerous work. What started with an unthinkable event revealed the true American spirit that we all carry with us today. #9/11
