We learned a lot about so-called "Invasive" plants with and friends last weekend at the Papermaking Workshop. They gave us another word to describe them: "Displaced", pointing to the fact that these plants aren't conscious invaders of our ecosystems, but displaced members of distant ecosystems. After harvesting from dense bushes of Mugwort (Artemesia Vulgaris) and stripping bark from Buckthorn (Rhamnus Cathartica), we boiled, blended, mashed, and then sifted the fibers to create beautiful paper!
If you're sad that you missed out on the fun, you can dry your eyes - there's another papermaking workshop coming up this Sunday, Oct 18th! Check out the link in our bio for more information!

🌱Thank you to Westbay Community Action and Westbay Farm for hosting our cross-conservation district Soil Health Workshop. If you missed it, you missed a good time. Scientists from the National Resource Conservation Service brought a diverse soil sample show and tell and encouraged attendees to touch and feel the difference. To demonstrate how rainwater erosion affects different types of soil, they deployed the majestic ⛈️rainfall simulator (kid favorite and crowd pleaser).
Stay tuned for info on more events like this one, and get on over to the Westbay Farm Stand to see what they have in stock!
