The Autism Project is committed to celebrating, elevating, and supporting autistic people. We offer both direct support services (social groups, summer camp, family support) and professional training. The goal of our training department is to ensure that everyone in an autistic person’s life, from their partner or caregiver, to their doctor, their teacher, and their coworker, is equipped with the
latest knowledge, information, and tools to ensure that that person can thrive. As part of our direct support programming, we offer a comprehensive range of social groups for children, teens, and young adults. Social groups are designed to provide participants with an opportunity to engage in highly motivating activities or areas of interest, while simultaneously supporting communication and regulation. Social groups are also an excellent opportunity for autistic people to connect with others in their community and celebrate their unique gifts and talents. In addition to our evening and weekend groups, we have recently introduced programing specifically for adults. Our adult programs feature a variety of activities, ranging from day-to-day hobbies like fitness and gardening, to discussing career trajectories and working on self-advocacy skills. Many participants of our social groups and adult programs also choose to attend our yearly summer camp. Members of our Family Support Team offer peer-to-peer support and resources for families across the country. In addition, our team provides parent/caregiver training, support groups (including a Grandparent Support Group), and information sessions. We have Family Support team members who speak Spanish, Tamil, and Hindi. The Autism Project is committed to supporting and celebrating autistic people throughout their lifespan. We are a neurodiverse group of professionals who are steadfastly committed to being lifelong learners. As we learn more about autism, our next step is to implement what we have learned, and to pass that knowledge along to each of you.
