As the GCYAA season starts winding down, it's time for some thank yous!

Early this spring, we realized our outfield had a lot more dirt and mud than grass. Thanks to a donation of product from Iowa Cover Crop, along with equipment and help from Josiah at The Lawn Barber, we were able to get grass seed down and give those areas a chance to recover.

It has been great to watch the grass fill in and the fields improve throughout the season. We appreciate the support from local businesses and community members who help make our ball fields a better place for our kids to play.

Thank you, Iowa Cover Crop and Josiah, for helping us get the season off to a great start!

We’ll keep an eye on the sky throughout the evening. If weather starts to move in, we may need to end games a little early for everyone’s safety.

What a GREAT start to the season! ⚾🥎

We’ve loved seeing the fields full, the kids having fun, and our community showing up in such a positive way.

GCYAA is 100% volunteer-run, and it truly takes everyone to make this program work. Thank you to our coaches, parents, players, and fans. Those small but important contributions like keeping a positive attitude and using the trash cans at the fields matter more than you know!

We have a lot of specific thank-yous coming your way soon… so stay tuned!

If you’re looking for a way to help—big or small—we’ve put together an Amazon wishlist with items that would directly support our program:

We are so excited to kick off our T-Ball season this Saturday, May 2! ⚾️

As teams were created, we did our best to balance age and experience while also considering family requests and coaching needs. With the wide age range in T-Ball, our goal is to create the best possible experience for all players.

What’s the difference between groups?

Older / more experienced teams: We are encouraging players to begin with a coach pitch or toss and use the tee as needed.
Younger / less experienced teams: Players will start with the tee and work toward hitting a toss or pitch as the season progresses.

Practice & Game Structure:

Older teams are encouraged to hold up to one 30–45 minute practice per week so that most of the Saturday hour can focus on game situations.
Younger teams (primarily preschool) will meet on Saturdays only, with the first half focused on learning skills and the second half on game play.

Our goal is to help players build confidence and skills as we bridge into our 1/2 program, which uses a pitching machine for both baseball and softball.

Reminders:

If you haven’t downloaded and joined your team on the GameChanger app yet, please do so. This is how all team communication and scheduling will be shared.
