The letters "FFA" stand for Future Farmers of America; however, in 1988 the official name of the organization.

Founded in 1928, the Future Farmers of America brought together students, teachers and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural education. In Kansas City's Baltimore Hotel, 33 young farmboys charted a course for the future. They could not have foreseen how the organization would grow and thrive. Since 1928, millions of agriculture students - no one knows exactly how many - have donned the official FFA jacket and championed the FFA creed. FFA has opened its doors and its arms to minorities and women, ensuring that all students could reap the benefits of agricultural education. Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Now, the organization is expanding the nation's view of "traditional" agriculture and finding new ways to infuse agriculture into the classroom.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Alli’s family, friends, and FFA chapter during this incredibly difficult time. The FFA community is a family, and we are heartbroken alongside those who knew and loved her. 💙💛

Our annual Greene County FFA Fruit Sale fundraiser is officially underway! If you’re looking to stock up on some delicious fruit and other goodies while supporting our FFA chapter, we’d love your support!

You can place your order in person through one of our FFA members or online. Be sure to get your orders in by November 13th!

National Convention: Day 4!

Today marked our final day of the trip! Most of the day was spent traveling, but we made one last stop at Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, Illinois. We took some time to hike the trails, enjoy the beautiful weather, and take in the amazing scenery before hopping back on the bus to finish our journey home.

What an incredible trip filled with great experiences, new connections, and memories we won’t forget! So thankful for the opportunity to take these students to the 99th National FFA Convention and experience it all together.💙💛

National Convention: Day 3!

Today was convention day! We got up bright and early and headed to Lucas Oil Stadium for the 99th National FFA Convention. We kicked off the day by attending the first general session and listening to a couple of fantastic keynote speakers.

After the session, we explored the Mega Mall, spending the afternoon shopping for FFA gear and networking with FFA members from across the country! Once we wrapped up at convention, we headed back to get changed before going to Malibu Jack’s for dinner and some fun. We enjoyed pizza and spent the evening playing games in the arcade!

Another fun-filled day of making memories and experiencing all that National Convention has to offer! 💙💛

National Convention: Day 2!

Today we continued our journey to Indiana! We started the morning in Normal, IL, with a stop at Radar Farms. We explored the orchard and pumpkin patches, shot paintballs, enjoyed all the games, and grabbed some lunch. We had a blast!

From there, we headed to New Richmond, IN, to tour Stillwater’s Manufacturing. We got to see where robotic sprayers are manufactured and learn about the new and upcoming technologies with drones that are helping advance agriculture. What a great opportunity to see innovation in action!

We wrapped up the evening with some pizza and swimming at the hotel pool. It was another fun-filled day of learning, exploring, and making memories!

National Convention: Day 1!

We hit the road bright and early this morning to catch our bus alongside a few other schools! Our first stop was in Shell Rock, Iowa, where we toured Unverferth Manufacturing, a company that produces innovative equipment to meet the ever-changing needs of modern agriculture.

After some more time on the road, we made our next stop at Calmer Corn Heads Research in Lynn Center, Illinois. We even had the opportunity to meet Mr. Calmer himself and hear his inspiring story about how he built his business and got to where he is today!

What a great first day filled with learning, industry tours, and new experiences! We’re excited to see what the rest of National Convention has in store for us as we continue on to Indiana tomorrow!🚜🌽💛💙

On Monday, we took advantage of one of the last warm days of the season by partnering with the Jefferson Tree Committee to plant several trees along roads throughout the Jefferson community!

Ms. VanSickle’s Agronomy, Horticulture, Ducks Unlimited, and Wildlife Management classes teamed up in groups of three to get the job done. It was a great opportunity for students to get outside, gain hands-on experience, and give back to our community.

What a fantastic way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather while making a lasting impact on our community! 🌱🌳☀️

💚 Greenhand Fire Up Camp 💚

Three of our freshman FFA members attended Greenhand Fire Up Camp this afternoon at Atlantic High School! They learned more about what it means to be an FFA member, the opportunities FFA has to offer, and the leadership skills they can develop along the way.

We are excited to see these members continue to grow, bring new ideas to our chapter, and become the next generation of leaders in Greene County FFA!

Last week, Jacob Fernholz and Tanner Scheuermann from the Greene County Conservation Board joined Ms. VanSickle’s Ducks Unlimited and Wildlife Management classes for a hands-on bluebird house project!

Students worked to identify potential locations around Spring Lake for new bluebird houses, considering several factors that would help make each location suitable for bluebirds. They also learned about a new app the Conservation Board has been developing to track and update the locations of the houses.

After narrowing down a few promising spots, students headed out to Spring Lake to install a couple new bluebird houses around the lake! Along the way, they learned about the importance of bluebirds in our ecosystem and why thoughtful placement of their houses is essential to supporting their habitat.

A big thank you to Jacob and Tanner and the Greene County Conservation Board for providing our students with this great hands-on learning opportunity! 🐦🌿
