👉 What UMCOR’s Announcement Means for Midwest Mission
Yesterday, UMCOR announced it will be restructuring its disaster supply network and closing its Sager Brown facility at the end of 2026.
We know this news brings questions — and we want to reassure you:
✔️ Midwest Mission is independent and not owned or funded by UMCOR. UMCOR is our U.S. disaster relief partner.
✔️ We will continue receiving, assembling, storing, and distributing UMCOR disaster relief kits in the United States. (In 2018, UMCOR made a policy to only send UMCOR Kits within the United States)
✔️ We remain strong, active, and growing.
✔️ Our international and domestic Midwest Mission ministry continues unchanged.
We grieve for those who support, volunteer, and work at UMCOR Sager Brown. We have been great partners and colleagues and will keep them all in our prayers. We also pray for the future of the UMCOR Kit ministry and know God has something great in store, so we can get more people serving and help more people
We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we know that Midwest Mission’s commitment to show God’s love in a practical way through our mission — bringing the hearts and hands of God’s people together to transform resources into humanitarian relief — will not change.
You can still volunteer.
You can still make kits.
You can still give.
And together, we will keep sending hope.
