VFW Post 4850 Marvin Lee Ferguson

VFW Post 4850 Marvin Lee Ferguson Post 4850 was chartered on October 28th, 1945 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the City of Jasper, Walker County, Alabama. Son of Marvin Ferguson Sr.

Today, the post honors all veterans who have been deployed in multiple conflicts abroad and provide services to the community Marvin Lee Ferguson was born in Townley, Alabama on October 6, 1921. and Lula Velma Davidson, Marvin Lee enlisted in the United States Navy during the time of World War II. It was at this time that young Marvin Lee was attached to U.S.S. California, where at age 20, he was

unfortunately killed in action on December 7, 1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Marvin Lee was the first Walker County resident killed in action during World War II. He was buried and/or memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, HI. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal posthumously. Today, the post honors all veterans who have been deployed in multiple conflicts abroad and continues to provide service to the community of Jasper. The lounge is the oldest in City of Jasper's history and a commonplace for activities for both veterans and residents alike.

Today we honored Dean Harbison of Regional Air-Medical Services as our EMT of the Year for 2025-2026.
Besides helping save lives in the air with RAMS, Dean is also Chief of the Cordova Fire Department. Keep up the great work, Dean. Post 4850 appreciates you and the rest of the life savers at RPS and RAMS.
