VFW Post 4850 Marvin Lee Ferguson Post 4850 was chartered on October 28th, 1945 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the City of Jasper, Walker County, Alabama. Son of Marvin Ferguson Sr.

Today, the post honors all veterans who have been deployed in multiple conflicts abroad and provide services to the community Marvin Lee Ferguson was born in Townley, Alabama on October 6, 1921. and Lula Velma Davidson, Marvin Lee enlisted in the United States Navy during the time of World War II. It was at this time that young Marvin Lee was attached to U.S.S. California, where at age 20, he was

unfortunately killed in action on December 7, 1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Marvin Lee was the first Walker County resident killed in action during World War II. He was buried and/or memorialized at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, HI. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal posthumously. Today, the post honors all veterans who have been deployed in multiple conflicts abroad and continues to provide service to the community of Jasper. The lounge is the oldest in City of Jasper's history and a commonplace for activities for both veterans and residents alike.

To recap the article, the Post sold our property on Veterans Drive and the new owner has demolished the building.
The Post still exists, we are currently holding meetings at the Jasper Elks Lodge. The Post plans to obtain a new permanent home.
The F-4 was not sold and will remain where it is.

Not in the article, but Post 4850 is not a building, it is the members. Post 4850 existed before that property was purchased, and it continues to exist after that property’s sale.

Come on down! Our Farm Trade Day is in full swing in front of Marvin’s. We’ll be here until 3pm. The entrance to the parking lot in front of Marvin’s is closed due to construction, but the entrance closer to Big Lot’s is open.
