Tuesday night we packed 35 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! We are so thankful for every single person who made Tuesday night happen. Whether you came to pack or brought supplies to pack, your support will make a lasting impact in a child’s life!

Hi! My name is Lauren Goforth and when I was 17 years old, my friend Hope, along with her older sister Faith, and myself, all followed the calling God placed on us to begin a Bible study. We started it out of Hope and Faith’s house, not knowing if anyone would show up, but they did. Week after week more and more girls showed up and we got to get closer to each of them and watch them become closer to each other. Since then, we’ve outgrown that little house, and spent some time meeting at Eastside Baptist Church, and even Chick-fil-A. While things look a little different, this is the same lil Bible study that was started with just a handful of girls over three years ago in a really small living room. Our main goal was to invest in girls younger than us and be able to support them in some of the most confusing times of their life. We wanted to be for them what we didn’t really have at that age. A few months ago, a new chapter began, Hope and Faith both moved on to begin their married lives and families, and I moved on to begin my own chapter at Athens State. But the lil Bible study is still going strong, the same girls that have been there since day 1 have made it their own. They rotate out teaching each week, they do all the planning, and they have taken initiative to make it their own. We are so so proud of these girls and how much they have grown in their faith.

Every girl that has passed through those doors or sat at our table is so special to me, even though I may not be able to be as deeply involved as I once was, I consider each of these girls like my own sister and I will always answer my phone if they need me for anything.

I say all of this to say: I want to invite you to be a part of the new generation of DOTK. Desperation church has so graciously opened their space to our group and we will begin meeting there next Tuesday night! I plan to be there over the next few weeks to help with this transition and I would love to see you there! Come join us!
