This month we honor the LGBTQ+ community and also elevate the increased need for services in this population.

In a 2025 press release from the Williams Institute at UCLA's School of Law, researchers analyzed pooled data from the 2022 and 2023 National Crime Victimization Survey and found LGBTQ+ people in the United States are five times more likely to experience violent victimization, and are also more likely to suffer serious levels of violence, and to suffer injuries as a result of attacks.

Pride Month is both a celebration and a protest. All Pennsylvanians deserve to receive support when violence strikes. To activate a team to support your community after a crime has occurred, call us at 1-855-SOS-KCIT.

KCIT staff and volunteers are wearing denim today in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

After an Italian Supreme Court ruled that a victim's tight jeans meant she had assisted in removing them, and could therefore not have been r***d, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity with the victim. This case sparked activism and the Denim Day campaign was created.

Today and every day, KCIT believes victims and survivors worldwide, and supports crime victims in Pennsylvania.

On this day, and every day, we want to thank all first responders for your unwavering courage, dedication, and selfless service in protecting and serving our communities. From police, firefighters, and EMTs to 911 operators, who bravely put their lives on the line during crises, often making great sacrifices for others' well-being, a commitment deeply appreciated and never unnoticed.
