💉❤️ **Today is Lilly’s FIRST heartworm injection!**

Sweet Lilly, our 2-year-old Lab mix who came to us from a Georgia shelter, is taking a big step toward becoming heartworm-free today!

After weeks of medication and preparation, she's finally receiving her first injection. 🐾

❤️ **Today's goal: $135!**

That will help cover Lilly's first injection, veterinary administration and monitoring, and supportive medications to keep her comfortable.

Lilly still has a long road ahead, including two more injections in November, but today we're celebrating this first step.

❤️ Can you help us cover Lilly's treatment today?

Donations can be made here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/heartworm-positive-lab-lilly-needs-our-help

or Venmo
or Paypal.me/adoptionfirst
or Facebook Donations

Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for helping us give Lilly the healthy future she deserves! 🐾

🐾 Why Old-School Folders Still Hold a Big Place in Our Rescue Hearts! 📁✨

In a world where almost everything lives online, you might wonder: Do rescues still give out physical adoption folders?

The short answer? Absolutely. Every single animal leaves with a folder all their own! 🐶🐱

Even though we email digital educational packets and complete medical history for your pet on the day of adoption, there’s something special—and essential—about handing you a physical folder when you officially welcome your new family member.

Here is why those adoption folders are so important for both adopters and rescues:

📄 All Key Documents in One Safe Spot

From rabies certificates to microchip registration, your adoption folder serves as your pet’s ultimate hard-copy.

🧠 Instant Access to Crucial Education

The first few days with a new rescue can be a whirlwind. Having decompression tips (like the 3-3-3 rule), why your animal needs upcoming vaccines, new kitten flyer and access to your home check form.

❤️ A Tangible Milestone of Your Journey

Digital files are practical, but a physical folder represents the exact moment your rescue animal became yours. It’s a keepsake of day one and the start of their forever home chapter.

Adopters: Do you still have your pet’s original adoption folder? Tell us how long you've kept yours in the comments below! 👇👇

❤️ It Takes a Community to Save a Life! 🐾

Today, we want to give a BIG thank-you to our amazing foster community! Our fosters do so much more than open their homes — they help us make room for more animals in need, give pets a much-needed break from shelter life, and help them get one step closer to finding their forever homes. 🏡

Because of our fosters, we can continue saying YES to more dogs and cats who need us. We truly couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

🐶🐱 Did you know we have adoptable animals currently staying in foster homes? We’re sharing some of them here, and they’re still looking for their perfect forever families! If you see a face you love, reach out to learn more about them.

And if you’ve ever thought about fostering or volunteering with Adoption First Animal Rescue, consider this your invitation! You don’t need to do everything to make a difference. Sometimes, simply opening your home temporarily or giving a little of your time can change an animal’s life.

Interested in joining our team? Send us a message to learn more about fostering or volunteering!

Thank you to everyone who continues to show up for these animals. Our community makes this work possible, one paw at a time. 🐾💕

🐾 Meet Pocahontas! Our Little Terrier with BIG Energy! ❤️

At just over a year old and under 20 pounds, Pocahontas is a small girl with a big personality! This high-energy terrier loves to run, play, and spend time with her favorite people. She’s looking for an active home where she can burn off some energy, soak up affection, and be part of the family!

Pocahontas is still learning the ropes of living in a home and is not yet house-trained, so she’ll need a patient adopter who understands that these things take time, consistency, and lots of encouragement. 🏡

If you’re ready for a fun-loving little sidekick and are willing to help her learn what it means to be a house dog, Pocahontas could be your girl!

📍 Come meet her at Adoption First Animal Rescue in Jacksonville, NC! We’re open 7 days a week from 11:00 AM–5:30 PM.

🐶❤️ Let’s find this little firecracker her forever home!
