Today the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed additional cases of New World Screwworm in Texas and a case in Lea County, New Mexico. This brings the total confirmed cases to four in Texas and one in New Mexico. Our 2026 class will be every Tuesday & Thursday from 9am - 12pm starting August 18th - October 8th.

Application and $130 (includes training fee & textbook) fee are due by July 17th, 2026.

June is National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month! 🌽🍊🫑🍉🫐🥕 When buying fresh, try to follow the “FIFO” rule--“First in, first out”--by eating fresh produce in the order you buy it.

And remember, fresh fruits and vegetables are great, but frozen or canned fruits and vegetables also have great health benefits if these are cheaper or easier to find!

Grilling season is here! Make sure you are keeping your food safe when grilling.
-separate raw meat from other foods
-keep cold foods cold until you are ready to cook them
-cook food to a safe temperature
-make sure the grill itself is clean

Meal planning is an excellent way to save time throughout the week. On the weekend, sit down to make a list of all the meals you plan to make that week and check if you have all the ingredients you will need.

If you want, you can even have a “meal prep day.” On your meal prep day, you can chop all the vegetables you will be using in dishes throughout the week, precook meats and grains, or even prepare entire meals and freeze them for later.
