A huge thank you to the 36 amazing volunteers who showed up last week to help keep our parks beautiful! 💕🌿

Timucuan Parks Foundation was proud to assist the Mayport Lighthouse Association and Veterans Phalanx for a fantastic Saturday morning litter cleanup at Helen Cooper Floyd Park.

Working together from 9 to 11 a.m., our incredible team rolled up their sleeves and collected more than 40 full bags of trash from the park Grounds along Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway.

Community effort like this is what keeps Jacksonville’s public spaces pristine, healthy, and welcoming for everyone. Whether you stopped by for an hour or stayed the whole time, your hard work made an immediate difference for our local environment and waterways.

On , we’re reminded of the power of parks to restore our minds and spirits. A quiet walk under the trees, the rhythm of a paddle stroke, the sound of birdsong—all of these moments in nature help reduce stress, improve focus, and lift our mood.

Big ideas are taking root! 🌱

TPF recently joined our partners at PossAbilities Plus and UF/IFAS for the first in-person meeting and site visit for an exciting youth-led micro grant project.

Together, the team is shaping a project focused on native seeds, plants and vegetables at PossAbilities Plus and Castaway Island Preserve — creating hands-on opportunities for young people to learn, lead and connect with nature. 🌿🥕🌻

The group spent the day walking the site, refining the plan and preparing for the City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government’s micro grant pitch day on October 24.

We’re excited to see this project grow and to support young people as they turn their ideas into action for their community and the environment.

Sometimes our students' community service can make a pretty big impact. 💚

We’re proud to recognize young volunteer Aizen Bonzo, a U.S. Naval Sea Cadet, who has been an active participant in TPF’s self-guided cleanup program

Together with friends and family, Aizen has spent nearly 40 hours since last November removing litter and helping care for parks throughout Jacksonville — while also earning community service hours. Those hours have helped Aizen work toward recognition through the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, where cadets receive a community service award for every 30 hours of service completed.

Aizen recently received his community service ribbon, and we’re especially proud that time spent caring for our parks played a small part in that achievement!

Thank you, Aizen, for stepping up, giving back, and helping care for our local wilderness parks and preserves. We hope your example inspires even more young people and families to get involved! 🌿

What a day at the 7th Annual Talbot Tidewater Celebration! 🌿🛶🐦

Hosted by our friends at the Friends of Talbot Islands State Parks, this annual celebration brought the community together at The Ribault Club for a day of exploring, learning, and connecting with the incredible natural spaces that make the Talbot Islands so special. Timucuan Parks Foundation was grateful to be part of the fun alongside so many wonderful partners.

TPF and Duval Audubon Society share a strong commitment to connecting people with nature, and Duval Audubon partnered with the Amelia Island Bird Club to offer a bird walk, shorebird education, and opportunities for guests to learn more about the birds that call this area home.

Guests also had the chance to experience the waterways by kayak, with support from Hagan Coastal Outfitters. A huge thank-you goes to the Florida State Parks staff who did a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes—hauling kayaks from point A to point B to point C. Their teamwork helped make the experience possible!

From paddling and birding to learning more about local wildlife and conservation, it was a wonderful day spent celebrating the places we all work together to protect.

Thank you again to the Friends of Talbot Islands State Parks for hosting such a special event and for inviting TPF to be part of it. 💚

A little less parking. A lot more park. 🌿

For Park(ing) Day, TPF transformed 30 feet of pavement near Riverfront Plaza into a mini wilderness park right in downtown Jacksonville — complete with native Florida plants, a campsite setup, kayak, outdoor games, Leave No Trace messaging, and, of course, the hammock that quickly became the most popular spot of the day.

Visitors stopped by to explore, learn more about TPF, share feedback, and see firsthand how even a small space can be reimagined as something greener and more inviting.

Huge thanks to TPF board member Kevin White, the American Society of Landscape Architects Florida Chapter, and our volunteers for helping us bring this first-ever TPF Park(ing) Day to life.
