This last week, we’ve been deep in California’s Gold Country filming Ghosts of the Gold Rush, the first feature documentary from Black Hollow Pictures. What started as a search for ghost stories has become something much bigger, a journey into the lives of the miners, families, and communities that helped shape the American West.

This project has challenged me in all the right ways and reminded me why I fell in love with documentary filmmaking in the first place.

If you’d like to follow along as we continue production and see behind-the-scenes updates, be sure to follow both Black Hollow Pictures and Haunted Discoveries. We’ll be sharing photos, videos, stories from the road, and a closer look at the making of the film in the months ahead.

The gold may be gone, but the stories remain.

We're honored to be part of this project and grateful to Brandon and his team for taking the time to explore not only the stories of Kennedy Mine, but the people who lived them.

The history of California's Gold Rush is far more than dates and artifacts. It's a collection of human experiences—hardship, determination, loss, and hope. Those stories still echo through places like Kennedy Mine today.

We look forward to seeing where this journey leads and are excited to help share the history, legends, and voices that continue to make these places meaningful.

Some exciting things have been happening around here!!📽🎬🎞 We love it when our friends come to visit!

Back behind the camera where I feel most at home. Today we’re filming Ghosts of the Gold Rush, a project that’s taken us deep into California’s mining history, forgotten stories, and the people keeping these legends alive. Long days. Early mornings. Dust, cables, cameras, and a lot of coffee. Exactly where I’m supposed to be.
