The Amador Commission on Aging reports to the Amador County Board of Supervisors regarding the concerns and needs of the seniors in our community, those who are 55 years and older, and residing in Amador County. Additionally, the Commission provides assistance with connecting seniors and their families to available information, resources and services to help maintain and improve the overall qualit
y of life for our Amador County seniors. These meetings are open to the public and participation in open discussion is encouraged. The meeting location is at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson, CA 95642. 209-223-0442. Ongoing Operations
* Provide public information via the Active Aging page in The Ledger
Dispatch.
* Conduct meetings of outreach committees which hold events
throughout the county.
* Expansion of Visible House Sign Project.
* Revisional maintenance of the Senior Resource Guide and Volunteer
Opportunities Booklet.
* Continuous recruitment for Commission members.
* Support for the Amador County Sheriff's Office Hidden Key
Program.
* Support for the CodeRed emergency notification program.
* Ongoing outreach for the Vial of Life program.
* Continue working with law enforcement, fire protection and energy
producers to coordinate responses to natural disasters for seniors
and isolated seniors.
* Create and participate in the Wildfire Safety Initiative.
