Indigenous Peoples’ Day | October 12, 2026
Swamp City Community Cycles will be closed on Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The name of our community bike shop was inspired by the translation of Gayogo̱hó:nǫ’, meaning “People of the Great Swamp” or “People of the Swampy Land.” The Gayogo̱hó:nǫ’ Nation are the Indigenous people of this region around Cayuga Lake, and their history, culture, language, and communities continue to be an important and living part of this place.

We believe Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to learn about and honor the people whose homelands we share, recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization, and celebrate the continued presence, resilience, and vitality of the Gayogo̱hó:nǫ’ people.

You know what time it is - the season for Halloween Lighted Bike Rides! This year is themed 'Mythical Creatures', so we expect to see you out there on Thursday and Saturday (Oct 29 & 31) with your most spectacular costumes and lighted rigs 🐉. All human-powered wheels are welcome; the rides are intentionally slow paced for to allow everyone to join and for on-lookers to be in awe of our lighted glory! Meet up at 6pm around Hickey's Music and roll out at 6:30pm on both nights. If you want to pilot a bike sculpture, reach out to [email protected]!

Assemble! It is Harvest Time 🍎! Join Bike Walk Tompkins for under the full moon on Saturday, September 26th for a jaunty little cruise around Ithaca neighborhoods. We roll out on all human-powered wheels at 8pm from Swamp City Community Cycles (803 Cascadilla St).

Sure, we're excited about the new Porchfest documentary, but we're also excited about...Porchfest! WSKG is partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County and Ithaca CarShare to bring you two amazing bands, plus a cooling and hydration station and a celebration of Irene the CarShare truck!

Singtrece performs at 2pm and The Rungs go on at 4pm. Come see us at 615 Willow Ave!
