Our next and final Grow Along class will be held TOMORROW, September 14 at 6pm and THERE IS STILL PLENTY OF ROOM!!!

We will be meeting up at my home at 108 5th St. My neighbor, Chinche Guan, has graciously offered a tour of his amazing garden featuring many crops from Southeast Asia and some traditional growing techniques adapted for the urban environment. We will also assist my summer youth employee Say Nay Paw on some fall garden tasks and garden construction projects. Finally, as time allows I will cover some basics on how to protect and nurture your soil before winter. As space is limited we will be capping this class at 20 students so please RSVP here:

This summer has been a whirlwind! Since the beginning of 2021, thanks to your donation to Quarter Acre for the People’s A Community Thrives fundraiser, we’ve been able to connect 16 families and 24 individuals of color with opportunities to grow food and build community around food and farming. We’ve even had one participant land a job at a local farm, two people started their own plots at a BIPOC community garden, and two participants have organized farm and garden youth activities in food insecure communities.

Would you be willing to donate again this year to keep up this program's momentum? We have ambitious goals this coming year to secure land for multicultural, cooperatively-owned farming communities and the building of small eco-housing for upcoming BIPOC farms. To receive the same grant again this year, we need to raise $3000 by August 13th. We are trying to get as many small donations as possible. Here is the link to donate:

Thank you for all you continue to do for this community and your support of this program!

All my best wishes,

Christa Nuñez
