We are fortunate to have a 45-acre lake on our property called Lions Lake. The lake officially became Lions Lake when we bought the property back in the 1950s. The lake is an area that gets a lot of use by our campers and guests. In just a couple of weeks, the docks will be pulled for the winter.

The Wisconsin Lions Foundation Deer Hide Collection Site is up and running. With the warm temperatures, we have set out a freezer to drop your hides in. When you arrive at the Eyeglass Recycling Center, grab a bag to put your hide in and then put it in the freezer. This way, the hide will stay preserved until the weather cools down.

Congratulations to the Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office on receiving a Crystal Vision Award! They helped give the Gift of Sight to six recipients in 2025, and continue to facilitate the restoration of vision through corneal donation. We thank you for your continued support!

The Crystal Vision Award is presented annually to Coroners and Medical Examiners that demonstrate outstanding commitment and dedication to furthering our mission of Giving the Gift of Sight and raising awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Deer Hunters, make sure to check our collection site map for estimated opening dates of our deer hide collection sites. While some sites are already open, others won't open until October or November. We want to make sure that deer hides are only being dropped off at locations that are ready, especially with the warm weather. If there are no sites near you that are currently open, please place the deer hide in a bag and freeze it until the sites in your area open. Thank you for your support!

In 1925, Helen Keller's iconic "Knights of the Blind" speech inspired a century of Lions' service to the blind and visually impaired.

"I appeal to you, Lions — you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind — will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in my crusade against darkness?"

During the for Vision on October 8-18, Lions join to enact the same passion and boldness Keller once prompted, remaining dedicated to improving the lives of the visually impaired and preventing avoidable blindness.

The facility upkeep and improvements continue here at the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. Next on the list is the Dining Hall roof. As you can see from the lower picture, our roof was getting worn and in need of replacement. This week a brand new metal roof is being installed!

Turning 70 is awesome, but also brings a lot of upkeep. We are grateful to have a dedicated facilities team to identify, fix, and oversee upgrades of our buildings on the 440 acres of land that we call home. Thank you Pete, Todd, and Mark for your hard work and dedication!
