Building a brighter future for Irmo’s youth, one meal at a time! 🍎

Mayor Bill Danielson and Councilwoman Phyllis Coleman recently visited Youngs Chapel AME Church Irmo to present a $6,250 donation on behalf of the Mayor's Uplift Initiative.

This contribution fully funds the Food Sponsorship Level for the 2026 Youngs Chapel Enrichment Center Summer Camp, ensuring that every student has access to nutritious meals so they can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and "Leveling Up!" 🚀

Move for a Cause: The Namaste’ Yoga Mindful Triathlon Set for May 2.

The Namaste Yoga Irmo community invites the public to the Namaste’ Yoga Mindful Triathlon, a unique wellness experience centered on movement, mindfulness, and community connection. This special event offers a refreshing twist on the traditional triathlon, prioritizing inner peace and community support over competition.

All proceeds from the event directly benefit the Mayor's Uplift Initiative, which provides essential support to underserved families within the Irmo area.

The Mayor’s Uplift Initiative is proud to announce the launch of its new website, mayorsupliftirmo.com, and is inviting residents, businesses, and community partners to donate in support of programs that uplift Irmo’s families and children in need.

Created to strengthen local support networks and meet every day needs, the Mayor’s Uplift Initiative works to connect people facing challenges to the resources they need.

“People in Irmo take care of each other,” said Mayor Bill Danielson. “The Mayor’s Uplift Initiative exists to turn that spirit into action. Every donation—big or small—goes directly toward helping our neighbors and building a stronger, more connected town.”

The new website, mayorsupliftirmo.com, serves as the hub for all updates, upcoming opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and donation information. Community members can now contribute online and see how their support is making a difference.

Donations will be used to support:
• Emergency assistance for Irmo families
• Youth-focused programming
• Community enrichment initiatives that promote belonging and wellbeing
• Partnership grants and resources for local nonprofit collaborators

Residents and businesses interested in sponsorships, matching gifts, or in-kind donations are encouraged to reach out through the contact form on the website.

The Mayor’s Uplift Initiative is powered by our community partners and local generosity. Every contribution stays in Irmo and directly impacts neighbors in our community.

Recently, Town of Irmo Mayor, Bill Danielson, called on community members to raise donations for the initiative.

The Mayor's Uplift Initiative aims to help community members across the town of Irmo.

"The way to do that is to make sure they have food in their refrigerator, food in their pantry, their power remains on during the winter and summer months. Those types of things," Mayor Danielson said.

Mayor Danielson announced that $70,000 has been raised as of Wednesday.
