Two young Bulldog wrestlers, 8th graders Conrad Wolthuis and Tony Rood, ended their WAAAM wrestling season by competing at the WAAM state championships at the Don Johnson Field House in Lansing. Both wrestlers did an outstanding job and competed with a lot of heart and Grit. Conrad Wolthuis won the WAAAM state championship in the 100 pound weight class by defeating all three of his opponents by fall. Tony Rood took 2nd in the state in the 110 pound weight class by winning two of his three matches by fall including a come from behind victory in the third period. We are excited to see what these young wrestlers are able to do as they move to high school next year!

Ionia High School is proud to welcome Nate Hawley as our new Head Varsity Football Coach to lead our Bulldogs!

A true Bulldog at heart, Coach Hawley is a graduate of Ionia High School (Class of 2009) and a former player who took the field in the very same stadium our Bulldogs compete in today. With coaching experience at the freshman, JV, and varsity levels, he brings a strong foundation in fundamentals, strategy, and player development.

His vision goes beyond the game and he is committed to building a Bulldogs program rooted in character, sportsmanship, respect, and pride in our school and community. As a lifelong Ionia resident raising his family here, his passion for the Bulldogs runs deep.

We’re excited for the future of Ionia Football and our Bulldogs under his leadership. Congratulations Coach Hawley!

Congrats to Joaquin Castillo for taking 5th place today at the MYWAY state championship !!!
