NeighborWorks America's nearly 50 years of impact! Chartered by Congress in 1978, NeighborWorks America supports nearly 250 network organizations through grants, training, and partnerships that create safe, affordable housing and promote community well-being.

The Coachella Valley Housing Coalition was proud to announce the “Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Niland Colonia Housing Reconstruction Project.” In 2020, the town of Niland, CA, faced a devastating wildfire that destroyed many homes in its community. The County of Imperial secured CDBG-CV funding to address the replacement of some of the housing that was lost and other various community needs in Niland. CVHC was asked to participate in the building of five new replacement houses for Niland residents who lost their homes. These families waited for almost six years to receive their high-quality, safe, and affordable house. This project was a joint effort between the Imperial County Workforce Development, the California Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition. We would like to thank all the partners that made this project possible: California Department of Housing and Community Development; Imperial County Workforce and Economic Development; Consultants ICF; Contractor Pioneer Affordable Homes, Inc., and our hard-working single-family development team. We also would like to acknowledge the elected officials and representatives who attended our celebration: County of Imperial Supervisor, District 4 Ryan Kellyey; Office of Assemblyman Gonzalez, representative Isabella Beltrant; Office of State Senator Stephen C. Padilla, representative Guillermo Hernandez; Office of Congressman Ruiz, representative Sara Solorzano. Congratulations to the five deserving families that received a new home!
