Today is National Food Bank Day and we’re celebrating more than what a food bank does — we’re celebrating how far we’ve come. 🧡
A food bank is more than a warehouse filled with food. It is a critical part of the hunger-relief network, rescuing and distributing food, supporting community partners, responding to disasters, and helping make sure nutritious food reaches the people who need it most.
For FIND Regional Food Bank, that work has been growing for more than four decades.
September is a special month for us, because 16 years ago we relocated from Cathedral City to Indio and opened the doors to our current warehouse — the Houston Building. That building became the foundation for expanding our food rescue and distribution efforts across the region.
Then last year, we reached another milestone: the opening of the Lynn Building, our second warehouse on FIND's Food Security Campus. This expansion gave us more room to rescue, store, and distribute food. It also created space for FIND Regional to run and operate Community Mobile Markets directly on our food security campus, bringing fresh food directly to the community we serve.
Since 1983, FIND Regional has been committed to ending hunger in our region, and we’ll continue to be here for our neighbors. Happy National Food Bank Day! 🧡
