Tails and Trails Rescue "Saving those that others cast away." We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue out of central Indiana. Our Rescue is an all-volunteer organization. We are NOT a shelter.

Our dogs are housed in foster homes. Once an applicant is approved for adoption they will meet with the Adoption Coordinator and dog(s) at a designated location. The application process usually takes 24-72 hours, provided references respond. Including an email for references will often speed up the process.

Don't let those handsome, distinguished colors fool you—while he has the charming look of a wise older soul, Tim is a fun-loving youngster who is only 2 years old!

At 63 lbs, this Mountain Cur boy is a big bundle of affection. Mountain Curs are famous for being fiercely loyal guardians, which makes Tim a perfect match for a family with fun kids to run around and play with!

Get to Know Tim:
Personality: Friendly, cuddly, and greets everyone he meets with total enthusiasm! He's always ready for snuggles and belly rubs.

Health: Up to date on all vetting!

Dog & Cat Status: Gets along great with other dogs! (Cats are unknown right now)

Manners: Pulls a tiny bit on leash, but he's eager to please and just needs a little practice on his leash manners.

Ideal Setup: Looking for a home with a yard or space to stretch his legs (no apartments due to his size!).

Whether you have a bustling household full of kids or just a cozy couch that needs a loyal companion, Tim is ready to steal your heart.

As always, our main goal is to find Tim his FOREVER home, but a loving FOSTER home would be a fantastic start for this sweet boy!

Psssst……hey you……that doggie in the window…..yes, YOU, the one with the waggly tail! Have you told your humans that you want to attend the Country Tails and Crafty Ales Festival at German Park this Saturday, October 17th from 2-7pm?

Tell them you want to dress up in your favorite costume and hone your trick skills because at 4:30pm, there will be a Dog Contest to crown the Best Costume, Most Original, Most Look-Alike, Best Trick and Most Talented.

Tell them there will be fun for them too! There will be a Silent Auction all day until 6:30 pm AND a Live Auction at 5pm. There will be sooooo many awesome items donated by local businesses that there’s sure to be something your human will not be able to live without!

Also, tell them to visit the Tails and Trails tent as there will be information on the rescue, merchandise to peruse, the opportunity to purchase ‘numbers’ for the 50/50 Ball drop at 6pm and a chance to ‘Spin the Wheel’ and win a prize!

What are you waiting for? Grab your non-retractable leash and tell your human to COME to the festival!

🌟 PROUD MOMENT: Look how far Cowboy has come! 🌟

When PawPal Volunteer Denise first took Cowboy out for an outing back in June, he was overwhelmed by the world—barking at every car, bicycle, and passerby.

Fast forward just two months to this morning at Craig's Park: surrounded by bustling baseball games, cheering crowds, and heavy traffic, Cowboy handled it like a total champ! 🏆

Instead of reacting to the noise, he happily walked two miles, casually watched the cars go by, and was perfectly content just sniffing the grass and doing his own thing.

This sweet boy proves every day that with a little patience, guidance, and love, he has the potential to be an absolute dream companion. In a stable home, Cowboy is going to thrive! Although initially drawn to females, he will warm up to males once he knows he can trust them.

Meet Cowboy:
🔹 Age & Breed: 2-year-old Border Collie / Aussie Mix (47 lbs) — the ultimate age for adventure!
🔹 Dog Friendly: Great with other dogs when given respectful introductions.

!! FOODIE ALERT !!

Imagine walking into the beautiful grounds of German Park this Saturday, October 17th, leaves wafting gently from the trees, live music tickling your ears and mouthwatering aromas coming from the grill.

Ahhhhh, it must be the Country Tails and Crafty Ales Festival to benefit Tails and Trails Rescue from 2-7pm!

Our Grillmaster William will be grilling hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and brats. This year we are adding sauerkraut, peppers and onions to adorn your sandwich of choice as well as chips, nachos and cheese, cookies, sodas, bottled water, b**r and w**e.

Food and drink tickets will be sold at the front gate and at a table located by the grill. Be sure to bring your appetite!

Sixteen year old Sully is enjoying the 84° evening here in Indy. He's not sure how many he has left, so he's taking it all in. I pulled up a chair to sit with him, while the sun decides to settle. He is totally relaxed.💕

A gorgeous 10-month-old Lab and Australian Shepherd mix who is ready for action! At 57 lbs and fully vetted, Beauregard is an active young boy who is definitely not the "lay-around-the-kennel" type.

He is looking for a foster or forever home where he has plenty of room to stretch his legs and an active family to keep him engaged—both mentally and physically.
