🌻 This is why we leave the sunflowers. 🐦🐿️💛
These wonderful photos, taken right here at Manor Farm by Bill Kelly, capture exactly why Manor Farm and Starflower Experiences chose not to harvest or sell our sunflowers.
Yes, we could sell them. We could cut them when they're at their prettiest and make some money from the field.
But then we would miss this.
The goldfinches feasting on the seeds. 💛
The chipmunks stuffing their cheeks. 🐿️
The hummingbirds visiting the flowers.
The bees, butterflies and countless other creatures that find food and shelter here.
The sunflowers were never planted just for us.
We wanted people to enjoy their beauty, children to experience the field, photographers to capture special moments, pollinators to visit the blooms—and then, when the flowers faded, for nature to have what was left.
Watching these little visitors enjoy the seeds reminds us that leaving something behind for wildlife has a value that can't always be measured in dollars. 🌻❤️
Over the years, Manor Farm and Starflower Experiences have worked to make this a place where people and nature can come together. The sunflowers, wildlife, programs, children, volunteers and countless visitors have created memories that will stay with us forever.
We still hold onto a little hope that somehow there might be a way for this work—and our presence here—to continue. 🌻💛
Places like this are special because of the community that surrounds them. If Manor Farm and what has been created here has meant something to you, we hope you'll share your memories, your photos, and what this place has meant to you. seeing moments like these makes us incredibly proud of what this little piece of land has provided—for people and for wildlife.
Sometimes the best harvest is the one you leave for nature. 🌻🐦🐝🦋🐿️
