Hunlock Creek Historical Society

The Hunlock Creek Historical Society was established to educate future generations about the history of Hunlock Township.

Next Saturday at the 250th Celebration, we'll have the Stuart Tank Memorial Association joining us with a display table. You can view and learn about an important part of American history.

We'll also have Hunlock Creek Apiary, located at the end of Swamp Road near Main Road, joining us with a table full of products to purchase and an observation hive.

We hope you can stop on out next weekend!

Congratulations to all 2026 Northwest graduates! Today is the last day of school for Northwest students, and tonight is graduation.

Today is also the last day students will walk the halls of the Northwest Area Intermediate School, formerly Hunlock Creek Elementary. Here is a pamphlet, “A Parent’s Guide”, from years ago. We’re unsure of the exact year. Maybe some of you may recognize it and can figure out the year!

✨Presenters/Demonstrators/Vendors Highlight✨

Next weekend! Here's the schedule of presenters/demonstrators:

10-11 - Chip Sorber presents on American history
11-12 - Bill Lewis from the Luzerne County Historical Society presents on local history
2-3 - Sherry Emershaw presents/demonstrates American history

The Stuart Tank Memorial Association and Hunlock Creek Apiary will also have tables set up with information. The historical society will have a table set up with some local history, brick order forms, and order forms for the Veteran's Honor Roll if you'd like to have a veteran's name added.

We hope you stop by even if it's to grab something to eat and listen to a presenter or musician for an hour. We are hoping for no rain and a beautiful day to celebrate 🇺🇸

Who doesn't love a pet parade and costume contest?! Stop by the 250th Celebration on June 20th at 1pm to enter your pet.

All animals welcome as long as they're well-behaved and on leashes/in carriers.

🌟Musician Highlights🌟

At our 250th Celebration on June 20th, we’ll have Brant Quick joining us from 11-12 and Accalia Garrison from 12-1!

Brant is a local musician who will be playing acoustic guitar. Check out his page to watch some videos of his performances. 🎸

Accalia is a 12-year-old singer who has an amazing voice! This girl should be on American Idol 🎤

The Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Company will be joining us for the 250th Celebration on June 20th! Stop by their table to support the fire company, purchase instant bingo tickets, and take a chance on some exciting raffle prizes.

Not a single cloud in the sky today ☀️ The Oakdale Schoolhouse has been decked out with some flowers and American flag buntings in honor of the 250th 🇺🇸

Last but not least in our food vendor highlight is The Ice Cream Truck 1961! From cones to slushies and from floats to sundaes, they have something on the menu for everyone. We are lucky to have them join us for our 250th Celebration on June 20th!

Next up in our vendor spotlight is Squeeze the Day! They offer themed boba, which is fun for both kids and adults. It's always a tough choice to decide which drink to go with because all of the drinks look so fun. We are happy they'll be joining us in three weeks!

Just shared with us from Muhlenburg Corners!

Did you know that Main Road in Hunlock Creek was once a turnpike? Toll houses stood at both ends of the road.

The turnpike was later disbanded in 1908, and Main Road was taken over by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1933.
