From our trip last November... Animals crossing the road is not uncommon - but monkeys?

We welcome Matthew Cassidy as a new member of the Kenya Matters board.
In Nov/Dec of 2024, Matt & a friend joined a group of us who were visiting the CRCA children's home. Matt brings an accounting degree & holds a CPA degree. Thus, Matt is both a new board member AND the new board treasurer! 😜

The Kenya Matters board is smiling & thankful that Matthew Cassidy has recently joined our board!

If Matt looks familiar, he has been participating in our annual fundraiser, helping as a tech person for our online silent auction, for the past four or five years.

Matt visited the children's home (CRCA) in Nov/Dec of 2024 with a group of us. Since his visit, Matt has been wondering how he might further engage with our efforts.

So, we threw him under the bus, and he is now the treasurer of Kenya Matters. In all seriousness, Matt has a degree in accounting and holds a CPA degree.
~ Matt is more than qualified to help us move forward!

If the water tank needs to be checked for leaks, or when the float occasionally gets stuck... notice the ladder that is used when they climb up to the top of the tank... This is Kenya! 😉

We welcome Jake Fortuna to our Kenya Matters board!

In the words of Jake: "I was first introduced to Kenya Matters through my wife Olivia and attended my first fundraiser for a water project. I was drawn to the idea of a group of people recognizing a problem across the world and acting on it in meaningful ways.

I believe with the privilege I have, it is my responsibility to help those with less, and in using my voice for others. I believe in Kenya Matters as a worthy cause; I am excited to be a part of."

Jake & Olivia celebrated their first anniversary last weekend!

K.M. Supporters... our apologies for not posting recently. Here is a pic for you to ponder, however.

This was taken one evening, after the kids had all gone to bed & the grounds at the children's home were whisper quiet.

If you could have seen this place 15 years ago... Just about none of this was here... Small rooms for the children with a small shack for the kitchen with insects occasionally scurrying around... it has all been fixed or replaced by generous humans.

Just over a year ago, th solar panel project was completed. Security lighting, using sun & battery power, was installed, too. The result is that children without parents are living thriving lives! We are grateful beyond words.

Earlier today, we sent $101 to Kenya so a young mom can get her two kids into school. The public school system in Kenya isn’t exactly free. There are fees for everything…. not so unlike our public schools. With them in school, being able to leave for work will be much less stressful for her.

We sent another $297, too. This is for a struggling mom to start a small business. In reality, she had already started it. She needs some capital so she can sell enough to hopefully feed her family. She is a single-mom, too.

We invite you to share in the goodness - and help fund these things. This is what goodness can look like 🙂

Link to GiveButter, our fundraising partner, is in the comments. We appreciate all support.

Our plant sale continues… we still have more than 40 varieties of tomatoes that are available for your West Michigan garden!
[3275 Bauer Rd. Jenison MI] Self-Serve, Open 24-7.

We want to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the Allendale High School Robotics Team for helping us transplant a bunch of the baby tomatoes & peppers in early May. The energy they brought to the greenhouses to help, along with doing a fantastic job, is much appreciated!
