Dear supporters of the Cody DeBoer Foundation,
We are so thankful for you! Here is an update on what we did with the money raised through the 2023 Cody
DeBoer Foundation Golf Tournament. Once again, with your generous support, over $10,000 was raised for
charity.
We donated to Friends and Family of Cystic Fibrosis. If you were not at last year's event you might not know who
they are. They are a local charity like us. They have been an inspiration to us and are a big reason behind how we
got our charity up and running. They mainly support local individuals but also invest into the research side of the
disease. They continue to help us meet new families affected by CF, some of which we have been able to support
directly.
Due to extended hospital stays, a lot of our patients we support get behind on their bills and potentially could lose
their job. Megan Pluymert, the new CF social worker for Corewell, suggested that we do more gas and grocery gift
cards. This seems to be the most beneficial way to help those with the most immediate need in small increments.
A few examples of the individuals we were able to help in 2023:
One patient was just not able to keep up with all the bills due to CF. She started to put all her bills on a
credit card. Thankfully, we were made aware of her situation and were able to pay off some of her debts.
Two more patients were helped by relieving their debts in the form of monthly payments. One patient got
behind on their car payment. Another got behind on their apartment rent. Cars to drive, and homes to
live in are things we take for granted. These two were extremely thankful to be caught up on their debts.
Another patient struggled to keep their propane tank filled up. While not completely empty, the family
was not sure how they were going to come up with the funds. We were able to fillup their tank. This
eased their mind of being stuck in the freezing cold with potentially freezing pipes this past winter.
The last patient we were able to support was in need of a portable oxygen tank. As CF has taken its toll,
this patient could no longer breathe without extra oxygen. While this is one of the sadder stories, we
were still extremely grateful to supply this need.
Another place that we were able to tO contribute was to our schools' special needs fund. This has been a priority of
ours, as a charity as it was something near and dear to Cody. This has now become a priority for us, as part of the
reason we started the charity was to remember him!
We are so thankful for all of you who have supported this cause so near and dear to our hearts. Words cannot
express how thankful we are to all the golfers, sponsors, workers, family, and friends. We especially love to see all
the new faces, and the support for our charity. We would also like to thank Chase Kuyers and Pigeon Creek for all
his support over the last years. While we will miss Chase and Pigeon Creek, we are ecstatic to try and fill up the
extra 9 holes this year at Winding Creek! We look forward to seeing you all there on August 3, 2024.
Colossians 2: 6-7, "AS ye have therefore received Christ. Jesus the Lord, SO walk ye in him: rooted and built up in
him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. GoC has surely
blessed us, and these people, through all of you!
So, from the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!!
