Interesting hypothesis, theory! And you can easily test this theory at Hubbard Public Library! Visit the library, check out a book, and settle in at the Sensory Garden--and its wonderful Reading Nook--and read! Test this hypothesis for yourself! And enjoy the health benefits of reading in nature!!

Have you ever noticed that a book somehow feels different when you read it outside? Maybe it’s the warmth of the sun, the sound of leaves moving in the wind, or simply the feeling of being away from screens for a while.

From Claude Monet's paintings under open skies to Japan’s philosophy of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), there may be a deeper reason why reading in nature feels so calming, immersive, and unforgettable. Discover why taking your book outdoors might change the way you experience stories forever.

WOW! SO much going on at Hubbard Public Library this summer! The Time Capsule is being 'unveiled' on June 20th. (See below for details.) Thus, you can celebrate America's 250th Birthday, Hubbard's 50-year Time Capsule and 'Through the Eras' Summer Reading Programs and Activities all at Hubbard Public Library this June. YAY!

50 years in the making!

We will be having a ceremony featuring guest speakers on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm to view the contents of Hubbard's 1976 time capsule! The citizens of Hubbard buried a time capsule in 1976 in front of the library with the intention of unearthing it in 50 years to celebrate America's 250th Birthday!

***Due to logistics of excavation of the time capsule, we will open it prior to June 20th to determine the condition of the items inside. We realize some will want to be here for the unearthing of the time capsule. Please exercise caution if observing the process and stay behind the barriers we set in place.
