The ACE Institute is on a mission to help children and adults with disabilities achieve their life goals through support, education, and outreach by using the Rapid Prompting Method (RPM). One of the foundational principles of RPM is that each student, regardless of age and diagnosis, is capable of learning, making progress, and achieving their goals. RPM is a unique individualized blend of engage

ment techniques that utilize the client’s strengths and innovative adaptations to work on different target areas through the introduction of new topics and purposeful activities.

As soccer takes the world stage this week, for the start of the FIFA World Cup, we are in full soccer mode here at ACE.

Our summer outing was rained out this week, so we took the time to learn about how the tournament was structured, fill out our group round bracket, and watch Portugal play DR Congo.

In between this time, Mitch created a game called "Is it soccer, American football, or both?" for students to combine their knowledge of the two sports.

Test your trivia knowledge with the questions below!

As we get into summer here, we are starting up our Sherlock Holmes class. To start off every class, we start with some sort of word game to get our detective minds working! I often use games and puzzles from the app, Everyday Puzzles, and just adapt their size or layout so our students can work on additional skills like pointing or handwriting. This week our game was called Cladder. You are given a 4 letter word to start and must change just one letter in the word to answer the prompt. You can see in the picture, I created boxes for each letter big enough for our students to be able to handwrite if that is a goal they are working. Students are able to answer with any sort of communication skill so everyone is included! Stay tuned throughout summer to see more of these fun games!

Vocational Skills

When introducing a new skill, we introduce it at our office. This allows our students time to learning the procedure needed in their familiar envrionment. When we move it out in the community they then work on encoding instead of the physical process!

Here is Noah working on pulling clothes with specific tags and sorting them by color in our vocational room.
