A busy past 24 hours for Adam and Tanner in D.C.

Last night, after a full day of leadership workshops, they took a night tour of D.C.

This morning, all 5 MN attendees at the conference, were escorted by MN Farm Bureau President, Dan Glessing to the capitol for their hill visits. It was a full day with a number of MN Legislator meetings and a personal trip to the house floor!

Love seeing our graduates doing great things! Have a blast this summer.

Meet another one of our 2026 Minnesota Agricultural Education Interns, Holly Hughes!

Holly is a junior at South Dakota State University and will be interning at Glencoe-Silver Lake FFA this summer, where she’s excited to gain hands-on teaching experience and continue growing her knowledge in agricultural education.

Holly was inspired to pursue agricultural education through her experiences in FFA and working in her school’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden. She loved seeing how hands-on learning helped students build confidence, curiosity, and passion for agriculture, and she hopes to create those same experiences for future students.

Her AFNR pathway interest is Plant Systems, and she’s most excited to teach horticulture, floral design, shop classes, and exploratory ag courses.

We’re excited to follow Holly’s journey this summer and share more about her experiences in agricultural education!

Make hay while the sun shines!

Today's Work-Based Learning visit, took me to the hay field to visit Adam. This particular field he was baling today was for a client. Adam has established quite an entrepreneurship business of custom hay work and also works alongside his family's business. A number of their buyers are looking for a specific size bale and quality. They meet these demands by providing variety that a number of other custom businesses are unable to fulfill.

Last year, Adam was one of two students who rented a piece of hay ground together and developed a number of skills operating their hay business. Watch out for SD Customs in the future. (Studly&Dudly😃) They may be looking for buyers of their grass type hay this summer too.

Keep up the great work Adam and I look forward to watching you compete next year with your Forage Proficiency application.
