LINK Houston

LINK Houston LINK Houston advocates for a robust and equitable transportation network. These deeply affordable options must be as viable as owning a personal vehicle.

Transportation– how we get where we need to go – should not be a barrier to accessing jobs, education, healthcare, shopping, or anything else we need in our lives. People should be able to reach such opportunities safely and with dignity by walking, rolling, biking, and riding transit.

We took The Guardian team on a transit tour of Houston earlier this spring through Downtown, Gulfton, and Northwest Houston to show them what works, what needs improvement, and what is on the way during the FIFA World Cup.

Houston METRO will have the most frequency in its history during the five weeks where Houston will be on the international stage. While that is great for those traveling in, it is also the perfect opportunity for Houstonians to try out the expanded regional express services offered through the Park and Ride system, the more frequent local bus to their favorite shows and restaurants, and the all day rail service being offered to the FIFA Fan Fest and stadium.

If you're already a daily rider these improvements provide much needed reliability to your schedule and if you are a new rider the expanded service being offered makes it the best time to try it out.

Our request to you is give METRO a try this summer. Plan a trip to a concert, a new restaurant, or simply just to work and let us know your thoughts. We want to hear from you!

The FIFA World Cup is bringing access to Houston at a level unseen before. Main St. will be a pedestrian promenade and for 5 weeks METRO will deliver world class service, regional express routes into downtown, all with expanded hours. This webinar aims to walk us through how to make it last. We've brought together an expert panel of urbanism professionals to guide us through creating lasting change after FIFA.

Transportation accounts for 47% of carbon emissions in Houston - roughly 19 million metric tons annually. Riding public transit can reduce your carbon footprint by 55%. This Earth Day we celebrate public transit and the freedom and dignity that clean transportation offers.

Better for the environment. Better on your bank account. Riding METRO moves us forward in the right direction.

We are kicking off our Equity in Transit 2026 report development! This installment will be looking at the current and future harm that highway expansion projects, such as the I-45 construction, will have on public transit in Houston. As always we are asking transit riders about their experiences and we need YOUR HELP to reach as many riders as possible. You can help by 1. Taking the Houston transit rider survey at bit.ly/EIT26SURVEY 2. Sharing the survey with your network 3. Signing up to canvass with LINK Houston at one of our upcoming survey sessions at bit.ly/EIT2026 4. Sharing this post with your friends and family 5. Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin.

At just 15 years old, Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus. This brave act of resistance helped spark the movement for transit justice and civil rights. Her courage reminds us that public transportation has always been more than infrastructure — it’s about dignity, access, and freedom.

On , we honor Claudette Colvin and all those who challenged unjust systems to demand a future where mobility is a right, not a privilege.

There's a new way to pay for your Houston METRO ride in 2026 going forward - Tap to Pay! Over the last few weeks you might’ve noticed a new fare box on your bus and at rail platforms. These allow you a new way of paying for your ride using tap to pay features on your mobile phone and credit/debit cards. If you use the same card each time you get one free ride after every ten trips. This is a great next step in making transit easier to use in Houston.
